Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Presto 3510 FlipSide Belgian Waffle Maker

Customer Review: Is this the best technology we have for making waffles?
Summary: 3 Stars

With a little trial and error i'm able to make decent waffles. The problem is, overall i am not able to find any waffle maker that is worth buying over this. They all seem to have downsides. So i bought this model because at least it's cheap, and makes waffles just as good as any other waffle maker.

Just like many other reviewers, the countdown clock on this thing is a joke. I don't bother with it, i just left the battery out, and watch my oven clock.

Cleanup is hard, because the grills don't pop out for easy clean up, so i wind up spending some quality time with a damp paper towel and this thing.

All i can say is i've used this on 3 different occasions, and the waffles always came out fine, it was only clean up and flipping (causing a little spillage out the bottom) to be a problem.

I've looked at all sorts of price ranges on these Belgium waffle makers, and none of them seem to be "perfect", they all have some kind of flaws with the design.

I think it's time we invest in education, so we can get some engineers to design a better waffle maker. :p

Customer Review: Makes Great Waffles
Summary: 5 Stars

I am very pleased with this waffle maker. I have used it so far about 4 times, and each time the waffles have been just great. I use the recipie in the instruction book for Fluffy Waffles (using beaten egg whites) and the waffles are crispy brown on the outside (both top and bottom) and fluffy on the inside.

The built-in timer is quite useful and helpful, because you can set it whatever number of minutes you want, based on your own preference for crispiness, etc

I have had no sticking problems with the non-stick coating, but I did season it they way they said to the first time. No problems even after about 8 waffles so far.

Has a light on it that goes out when the waffle maker is ready for batter, and the timer has a beeping sound that can be easily heard (just stay in the kitchen when baking) It only takes about 3 minutes for the waffle iron to heat up, and makes waffles in about 4 minutes.

Also, Presto has an excellent customer service staff that promply answers your questions if you should have one.

Customer Review: Just right!
Summary: 5 Stars

Quick & easy to use. I place waffler on cooktop & start it warming while I make the batter. Pour in batter till it reaches the edes but doesn't go over. (experiment) I set timer for 4 mins., push button. Halfway thru time when it's really steaming, flip over waffler. Buzzer sounds clearly ea. time. Waffle comes out easily, med brown on outside & just right doneness inside...not doughy. I make 6 waffles. One of these big thick waffles is enough for my hus. and a half is enough for me. A little butter, syrup and fruit on the side...delicious! I wrap ea. leftover waffle in wax paper, and store 2 in a baggie in freezer. Easy to clean this waffler with wet cloth or sponge..store upright in my corner lazy susan cabinet. Stay in kitchen near waffler & your waffles will be excellent every time. Cost me less by ordering thru Amazon & no shipping or handling. Major stores charge more. Glad I chose this FlipSide Belgian Waffle Maker over more expensive ones. I'm sure they could not do a better job. I've owned other wafflers in the past..this is the best for sure. JB

Customer Review: Great Belgian Waffle Iron
Summary: 5 Stars

It makes great waffles. It flips so batter spreads evenly. It's easy to use. It stores upright and takes up little shelf space.

This little waffle maker made my sweet husband's day when he opened the box. I bought this along with Carbon's Golden Malted Waffle Flour (from Amazon.com.) That's what they serve at Hampton Inn's wonderful breakfast buffet. DELICIOUS!

I paid $39.95 for the waffle maker and $16.62 for three 33 ounce containers of Carbons Golden Malted. Worth every penny.

I suggest lightly spraying the grids with non-stick spray before each use. The waffles will fall right out. Let the waffle maker heat until the red light goes off, then pour in batter ( a little over 1/2 cup ) close and flip from left to right. I cook mine 4 minutes exactly. Perfectly brown, crisp and delicious every time.

For a great review and lots more info on the Presto 3510 read Joseph Ekaitis' detailed review for Amazon. He sold this one to me. My husband is very glad he did.

Customer Review: A little gimmicky- just okay
Summary: 3 Stars

If I am going to buy something, I want to spend as little as possible for the best possible choice on the market. This waffle iron is okay, but I wish I hadn't bought it. So far I have made waffles twice, with two different waffle recipes, and I'm not convinced that the "flipping" helps to distribute the waffle batter evenly as the product claims. Our old waffle iron that broke last week seemed to bake more evenly (which means the batter was well distributed) without having to flip over. The other rather irritating thing is that the black material on the handles is not smooth, so any batter that drips on the handles and bakes on, does not simply wipe off like other waffle makers I've had in the past. The grooves do clean easily, and the waffles do bake up high and light, given enough time. The timer is worthless, unless I need to put my son in "time out" while I'm cooking. And it's annoying that you can't turn the timer off while it is in storage. Next time I'll spend more money and get a different unit.
