Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Presto 3510 FlipSide Belgian Waffle Maker

Customer Review: Exactly What We Wanted!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this waffle maker for my boyfriend for Christmas after WEEKS of searching. He wanted a waffle maker that was round and thick, and they are harder to find than you might think. This one was just what I was looking for!! This little guy is perfect for a kitchen with limited space, was priced much more reasonably than some of the larger more industrial/professional models that had lower ratings, and it makes wonderful waffles every time.

We find that you have to keep an eye on it while it cooks, as the timer and the wait-til-the-steam-stops method doesn't seem to work for us, but after some more trial and error I think we'll figure out what kind of time it needs. I would just recommend being okay with some experimentation, and keeping a close watch on the first few batches so you don't overcook them. Also, we have realized a good trick: pour the batter in, close the lid and immediately flip it. This allows the batter to disperse and brown on both sides, making fluffy, picture perfect waffles. If you don't flip immediately it becomes over heavy on one side.

Amazing value for the price, stores easily and with little space, and allows us to make restaurant-style waffles right at home.

Takes some experimentation but overall we love it and was exactly what we wanted!!

Customer Review: Great Belgian Waffle Maker- Not-so-great timer
Summary: 4 Stars

I love this waffle maker! All of my waffles come out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Stick to the recipes that are suggested in the instruction booklet. They seem to have the best timing (about 4 minutes for a waffle). I tried a recipe from an outside source and ended up burning it. The nonstick surface is good, but I apply oil before each use to avoid sticking instead of just every few uses as suggested in the instructions. Even so, when I burned one waffle it was easy enough to pull out the burned bits after the iron cooled. Extra waffles can be frozen and will reheat well in the toaster.

My biggest complaint (and reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is that the timer works on a separate battery, so even after you unplug the waffle iron the timer remains on unless you remove the battery. I don't see why they couldn't have just made the timer electric to work with the waffle iron. It's just inconvenient. Other than that, I love it! It is easy to flip the waffles, and as long as you stick to the recipes in the book they come out perfect each time with barely any cleanup to do! It's also great to put the iron in upright position, place it against the back wall of my counter and have my counter space back! In the upright position it only takes up about a 12" x 4" space.

Customer Review: Best waffle maker ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been making and eating waffles for decades, so have had a lot of waffle makers. My ex kept the latest one, so I needed a new one. Looked over the reviews and prices and decided on the Presto and I couldn't be happier. Waffles bake up thick, crispy brown on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Best waffles I ever ate. Nonstick works perfectly and I have no issues with the timer, or that the "on-off switch" is to plug and unplug the cord -- all my other waffle bakers "operated" the same way.

I find that 3 1/2 to 4 minutes produces the doneness I like, and multiple waffles all come out the same. Wait about 10-15 seconds after pouring in the batter, then flip it. Halfway through you can flip it again if you like, but it's not really necessary. Be advised that the Presto makes very large waffles; it takes 1 full cup of batter to fill it. I can be a real pig at the dinner table, but two of these waffles will really fill me up!

I also bought the Golden malted pancake/waffle mix from Amazon. With free shipping it's $2.69 per 1-pound can compared to $2.49 (+ sales tax) for a box of mix at the grocery. The extra 20c is well worth it; the Golden mix produces the tastiest waffles I've ever had. One can makes 6 big waffles.

Customer Review: A Belgian Waffle Maker that Actually WORKS!
Summary: 5 Stars

Based on everyone's reviews, my wife and I decided to go with the Presto 03510 Flipside Belgian Waffle Maker, along with the Golden Malted All Natural Waffle & Pancake Mix. Love the fact that this maker is reasonably priced and stores upright for easy storage (the upright position's small foot print makes it easy to store tucked away on your counter or in the pantry). The all-natural mix is a perfect compliment to the waffle maker - crunchyish on the outside, buttery cake soft on the inside. The timer on the waffle maker is great. My wife sets the timer for a crunchier waffle (3min 45sec) and I like mine with a little less crunch (3min 15sec). Timer and constant heat control results in a very consistent waffle everytime. So far after a month of waffle making - no complaints. Super easy clean up. Sure glad we didn't spring for one of the other 150-$200 makers! This one works great. Very satisfied with this appliance buy (for a change)!

P.S I saw that another reviewer mentioned going thru batteries and removing the batteries to avoid them from going dead. This "P.S" is just to say that we've had our waffle maker now for a over a month now and have used it every weekend since with with no battery change needed.

Customer Review: I know this is redundant, but it is really worth 5 stars!
Summary: 5 Stars

This waffle iron makes beautiful, fluffy waffles. I had a certain waffle iron from a company beginning with T that makes great toasters, but mediocre waffle irons. I didn't realize how bad it was till a friend of mine made some waffles with that popular eighty dollar waffle maker. I almost cried! They were so good, but I knew I could never afford it! So I decided to try this one based on the good reviews. I'm ecstatic that I did.

First, this machine is quick compared to my other waffle iron. Waffles using a basic recipe are done in less than 3.5 minutes.

Second, the timer is a great idea. Relying on the "steam stoppage" method cooks the waffles too long for some recipes. The beeping when the waffles are done is just enough to bring your attention away from the bacon. Do NOT be foolish enough to leave the room when you have a waffle iron plugged in, for goodness sake!

Third, cleaning is super-easy and storage is a breeze. I love that it folds and locks in an upright position. It fits right in my tiny, overcrowded kitchen.

Last, the waffles are wonderful. Fluffy and crisp on the outside.

Buy this waffle maker. It's worth it!
