Customer Review: STURDY RELIABLE PRESSURE CANNER

This is the second Presto pressure canner we have purchased. A smaller one was purchased in 2004 and has received much service for home canning. We bought the 23 quart size since it can be used as a pressure canner and is tall enough to also serve as a water bath canner for quart jars. With the 23 quart size you can stack pint jars on top one another for two layers which is a great time saver when you have a lot of food to can. We have not used the canner for cooking large amounts of food, but there is a recipe book enclosed instructing how to use the unit as a cooker. Canning instructions are clear and many foods are covered. This canning season we used both canners at once with excellent results.Customer Review: Affordable and well-built cooker

I debated for many days on whether to spend the $$ on an All-American or Presto cooker. Ultimately, if I had a need to use a pressure cooker on a weekly or daily basis, I would have gone with an All-American. However, for the 3-4 times per year that I will need a pressure cooker, I could not justify the cost for one over this Presto.
And this Presto did not disappoint. It is high quality and well built. The dial gauge is reasonably accurate. I highly recommend purchasing the $10 adjustable weight pressure regulator so you don't have to constantly monitor the cooker pressure.
I'm very happy with my purchase and the cooker works exactly as I expected.

I've only used this as a water bath canner so far (not pressurized) but the size is great and works well on my smooth top stove. Only drawback so far is that everything comes out of the canner with a coating of white powder and the interior of the canner gets darker each time I use it. I'm not sure if it's the canner itself or the fact that our well water has some minerals in it. I didn't see any other similar comments. One of these days I plan to test it by using distilled water instead of tap. Until then I'm sticking to using it just as a canner and not putting food directly inside. Probably not a good idea anyway since it's made of aluminum and that's not entirely safe.Customer Review: a SUPER deal!!!

i searched this particular product all over the web, and no price was cheaper than Amazon. Everyone else had this for a min of $99 + around $22 shipping and handling. I got this from Amazon for $69 and free super saver shipping. I've always had a good experience with Presto products and this one is no different. I bought it so my fiance could can deer meat, and this def has alot of room so you aren't waiting around in the kitchen forever to finish a decent sized batch.
It's a very heavy pan so I would not put it on a glass topped stove or old coil burner stove.
worth every penny though and it's large enough to pressure cook a decent sized turkey in!

Who would think you could cook a pot of beef stew in 8 minutes - not me. It was trial and error for me the first time (read the instructions really well before using it and all will be well). 23 quarts? Man, I made enough stew to feed a small army and it turned out awesome and in such a short time. I was a skeptic of pressure cookers because of the possibility of danger that was associated with this kind of cooking; but with today's technology there are so many safety features built into this cooker that nothing is overlooked. If you're looking for a pressure cooker - this is the one to get. Built to last. Heavy, strong and almost indestructible.
