Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Presto 1781 23-Quart Aluminum Pressure Cooker/CannerCustomer Review: Indestructable!! What a Great Product. Summary: 5 Stars
Original reason for purchase involved canning of low acid products.
I must say it is flawless in construction and performance.
However after reading some recipes in the great little book included with
the canner I have rediscovered how easily and quickly food can be prepared.
I have tried several of my favorite all day cooking dinners(Boston Butt for example)
and it is really amazing. I'm having fun experimenting and also canning vegetables
and putting up soups and chili.
Instructions are very well done and the canner fits together very well.
I bought the 23 qt. to enable large batch canning. Others may do as well with the smaller models.
I am very happy with performance and quality of build and it should last forever.
Highly Recommend. AAAAA+++++
Customer Review: Presto makes the best products! Summary: 5 Stars
I've had a Presto pressure cooker in my kitchen for 30 years, and I've used it hundreds of times to cook meals for my family. Other than replacing the rubber seal in the lid (which cracked after 20 years), it still looks new.
So when I decided to do some canning, I did some research on Amazon and read many reviews. I ended up buying this Presto 23 qt. pressure canner based more on my history with the company. I've used it a dozen times now, and it's every bit as good as I expected. It's big and heavy, has a great stainless finish, and comes with easy to understand directions. It's also less expensive than some of the other brands people suggested to me.
I'm sure pressure cookers/canners can be dangerous, but I believe this product is safe and well made, and is designed to last a lifetime.
Customer Review: Not tall enough Summary: 4 Stars
I read reviews on a lot of different canners before I ordered this one. The reason I settled on this one is because someone said it was "really big" and mentioned stacking quarts. Well, sorry folks, it's not tall enough to stack quarts, apparently you can't do that in any of the canners that sell for less than $300. You can stack pints and half pints, but you can do that with most of the others, too. Yes, it's a nice canner, has a nice book with it and everything, but if I had it to do over, I would've bought the model that has the pressure guard that lets you know when the pressure is going too high or too low, as I generally am busy preparing the next load while one is processing and it would be nice not to have to watch it so closely. If memory serves, I believe that one was a different brand, maybe a Mirro.
Customer Review: brigid. Excellent service. Summary: 5 Stars
The Presto Pressure Cooker,
For me this was a must have. I had been looking around on the open market for a good quality pressure cooker/canner and Amazon is in fact the best price out there for a 23 quart cooker. Other retails want to charge $80.00 or more for pressure cookers that are only 6 to 8 quarts and are very poor quality. So I decided to give Amazon a try for this price and I was not at all disappointed. This is one of the finest quality made pressure cookers out there. It even came with a nice cookbook and easy to use instructions. It has a nice thick rubber inner-liner on the inside of the lid. The company was not cheap on the rubber seal and the stainless steel pot is a very nice heavy weight. This was an excellent purchase for the money.

Customer Review: Presto 23 quart cooker/canner Summary: 5 Stars
I LOVE this canner! The best price I found elsewhere was $125. I got mine for $80 with free shipping. Ordered on Thursday and had my canner by Tuesday. If you can read a timer and boil water; you can pressure can anything. Super safety features won't let you down, so don't hesitate to try home canning. Get your gauge checked at the local County Extension Office before you start and a few times each year if you use the canner alot (which is standard maintance). I took a few canner classes after my gauge was checked (it was perfect!). At the first class the instructor couldn't get the classroom canner to seal; so we used mine to teach the first class. LOL! First time the canner was ever used and it performed beautifully! Thanks for making a great product that is so easy to use!
