Customer Review: Great griddle -- even heat, quick heat/cool

I tested the Liddle Griddle by making pancakes. After the griddle indicated it had heated to 350, I tried the waterdrop test, and the droplets skated around the griddle beautifully. The griddle cooked fairly evenly -- as expected, areas near the heating element cooked a tad faster than the off-element areas, but it was a small effect. It also maintained temperature very nicely, staying hot for back-to-back uses, and not getting too hot when sitting idle for a few minutes while we ate before starting another round of cooking.
Another nice feature is that the Liddle Griddle heats and cools fairly quickly.
Now, here's the wacky part of my review... I got this to do surface-mount soldering of electrical components. If you've been considering a toaster oven, hot plate, or skillet for that purpose, try this griddle -- it worked wonderfully! (But don't use it for food after you've used lead solder on it.)

I haven't used it yet so will go along with those that have. The STUPID feature is this: if you put the control toward you, you can read the numbers right side up but the cord is not long enough to reach an outlet. If you put the control away from you, the cord is long enough but the control knob numbers are upside down and you can't see the indicator light. Of course you can turn it sideways and look at the numbers sideways.
Update Apr 15: I have now used this unit and it performs quite well, about the same as my electric frying pan. Makes a great grilled cheese sandwich. The "non-stick" quality seems good but, even after washing, there remained a "footprint" of the grilled cheese sandwich. For a single person it's a great size. Easy to handle and wash. The removeable temperature control is a definite plus. Haven't tried bacon yet.

For years we had a large griddle made by a different manufacturer. It was terrific, but when I finally dropped it and the plastic handle/supports broke, I realized it was time for a new one. Plus, I was no longer cooking for a crowd, but for just the two of us. With this Liddle Griddle, I'm amazed at how much more precise the temperature control is, and how much more often we use this thing -- often in preference over a skillet, which takes up more room in the dishwasher. (Yes, I said dishwasher.) Though the earlier one could be washed in the dishwasher, it was too big. This one fits easily, and still leaves plenty of room for a day's worth of stuff. The non-stick coating seems very durable and works as it's supposed to. I've rarely been so pleased with a small appliance.Customer Review: Awesome for 2 Person Household--Can't Go Wrong!

Simple as it is, this has to be my all-time favorite Amazon purchase (and that's saying a lot)!
I use this handy little appliance at least once a day; it's simple to clean, has a tiny countertop footprint, and cooks breakfast for 2 perfectly. It's also ideal for cooking 2 grilled Reubens simultaneously. And it gets hot enough to cook a steak or two.
If you're a 1 or 2 person household, you owe one of these to yourself. Temperature control is spot-on; the surface heats evenly--mine doesn't have any hot/cool spots like so many griddles do. I store mine in a lower cabinet, stored on its side, so it takes up very little space in the cabinet.
Very highly recommended!

As our family is shrinking and my regular griddle broke, I decided to purchase this product. It is of very good quality and I like the ease of cleanup. However, if you plan to have company or are feeding a hungry man--don't get this product. It can only reasonably make two (or maybe three) pancakes at a time. Perfect for single person in an apartment who does not entertain. I wish I would have mapped out the measurements at home prior to purchasing the product. I probably would have seen it was not big enough. The box is deceptively larger with its packing material. However, we are are using it for the occasional one-person toasted cheese sandwiches or other snacks.
