Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Presto 07046 Tilt 'n Drain Big Griddle Cool-Touch Electric Griddle

Customer Review: OCD as well
Summary: 5 Stars

OCD, I got a chuckle out of that. My sentiments exactly. As for being OCD, after reading "complaints" about cold spots, I got my griddle and digital thermometer out to see what the heck they were talking about, (my anal-about-details engineering education). And yes, there is a significant difference in the surface temperature. However, I've never had any problems cooking bacon, pancakes, sausage, etc. I bought this griddle about 2.5 years ago after my ex took the $200.00 All-Clad Stovetop griddle. Upon reflection: good riddance, total waste of money (the griddle, I mean). For the whiners, this is a $40.00 electric griddle for chrissake! For ease of use, surface area, clean-up ease and price, I can't see how you could top this griddle. If you know a better alternative, I'd appreciate you showing me one.

Customer Review: Great Griddle
Summary: 5 Stars

This griddle is great. It heats the pancakes easily and most importantly, I am able to make more that 2 pancakes at a time, so my whole family can sit down to breakfast together. I have made 6 large pancakes and still had room on the griddle for more batter if I wanted it. You can see he lines from the heating element on the pancakes, but it does not affect the taste of the pancakes, just the look. You also have to adjust the temp to your tatses. If you like your pancakes darker, you need to use the higher setting suggested. I did notice though that when I turned on the griddle to heat up, but did not cook the pancakes as soon as it was ready, the pancakes seemed darker (not quite burnt) and cooked too fast. Subsequent batches of pancakes come out as good as the first batch.

Customer Review: Huge Griddle Does The Job. Who Cares If The Pacakes Have Brown Spots?
Summary: 4 Stars

After researching many grills, I decided to purchase Presto 07046 Tilt 'n Drain Big Griddle Cool-Touch Electric Griddle. Granted, you get what you pay for. If you need something with the thickness of a cast iron skillet, then this griddle is not for you. But, if you want a griddle that can cook multiple panacakes at one time, or a few LARGE pancakes, then this is the griddle. Yes, the pancakes do cook slightly uneven in spots where the heating element is, but pancakes are for eating and not for display. So, if you are cooking pancakes to be featured in a cuisine magazine, then, again, this griddle is not for you. However, if you want to make multiple pancakes that will be eaten and not to be displayed in the MOMA or the Guggenheim, then this griddle will suffice.

Customer Review: I love my big griddle
Summary: 5 Stars

This Grill is great!
Plug it in, let it warm up for a few minutes to get it to the right temp while you are getting your food ready to grill.
The grill heats up even everything cooks at the same speed so everything is ready to go at same time which is great when you have hungry kids who don't want to wait for the next round of food, the grill tilts down very easy for grease to run off into the pan.
The grill is big and can cook alot of food at the same time but thats why i bought it. Perfect for a big family breakfast. Since your grill is so big you will need to find a special place for you to store your grill since it will not fit in the cabinet, but finding that special place is worth it since this grill gets the job done.

Customer Review: Large and effective
Summary: 4 Stars

This griddle makes excellent pancakes, and quite a few at one time. Each pancake, from one corner of the griddle to the other was cooked to the same degree of brownness. This is exactly what I wanted so I am well pleased. It also performed well on a grilled sandwich and browning chicken before baking. It is easy to clean and the nonstick surface works as well as I've ever experienced.

My only disappointment is that it heats only to 400° and thus is not hot enough to sear beef and lamb properly. I guess I'll keep using cast iron in the oven for that.

A minor complaint: In order to activate the tilt feature, you move the handles out. That's fine, but it's VERY easy to move the handles out when you don't want to.
