Customer Review: The Pros and Cons
Summary: 4 Stars

After spending more money on 2 faulty deep fryers (Rival is hit-or-miss for quality), I've finally settled on this little beauty.

Pros:
1.) Cheap and simple, a very compact and minimalist package overall. It is nothing more than a steel bucket with a heating element underneath.

2.) Fries at 350 degrees, 25 short of "ideal" but safe for cooking with lard and lower smoke point oil. Try lard if you never have, you can still get it in supermarkets.

3.) Milled steel bucket, cast aluminum base. Inside has a permanent synthetic non-stick surface. Clean up and changing oil is simple.

Cons:
1.) This fryer isn't for families with young children or dumb people. Hot oil is always dangerous to work around and this unit is a STEEL BUCKET FULL OF OIL. The outside is hot. The inside is hot. It's hot.

2.) Doesn't have a lid to stop the occasional spatter.

3.) The bottom and healing element are shielded, but it will still warm up your synthetic countertop. I have mine on an old wooden cutting board to avoid warping the plastic.

Customer Review: Good Little Fryer
Summary: 4 Stars

I only occasionally fry things so this fryer works fine for me. I don't need to waste a large amount of oil on small frying applications and this fryer couldn't be simpler to use. It's simplicity is great for most applications, however the inability to set a fry temperature means that it's not possible to par-fry items. If you're unfamiliar with the term, par-frying is frying an item twice. The first time is around 300 degrees, and the second time is at around 350 degrees. This ensures that the item being fried turns out crispy and is very popular with french fries. If you're going to make homemade french fries, not par-frying will most likely result in them coming out soggy. It isn't a problem if you fry store bought frozen fries, as they have already been par-fried before bagging.

I know with the design of this fryer it would be hard to fix, but because the unit is basically a heated metal bowl the sides get extremely hot during the frying process. If you aren't careful and touch the sides by accident you'll get burned.

Customer Review: Happy Customer
Summary: 5 Stars

I threw away an expensive deep fryer that I got at Bed, Bath and Beyond because it was junk! The lid wouldn't stay closed, it took a ton of oil, and it was messy. I decided to try this machine because I have always been happy with Presto products, and I have found that expensive is not always better. I really love this little guy - it's small, easy to store, clean in operation, and works like a charm. What else could I want? My other deep fryer did not get hot enough to make those chinese shrimp crackers - this one does! The only drawback I can even think of is if you make massive amounts when you deep-fry. This machine is sufficient size for a family of 1 to 4. My old deep fryer had temperature controls which were always set on max anyway. This machine just goes to the ideal temperature and stays there. Since it uses 4 cups of oil, it's easy to just pour the oil into a quart canning jar and keep it in the fridge. You can store it in the fryer if you want - but I didn't want to put the whole fryer in the fridge, and I don't like rancid oil.

Customer Review: cheaper at wal-mart , but you have to go there!! LOL
Summary: 4 Stars

Ok, the fry daddy works great, that why it's been around for so long. Just a few quick notes.

1. keep an eye out for a glass lid that fits your frydaddy, because sooner or later, some doofus is going to plug it in w/o removing the plastic lid and I don't have to tell you the rest of that story.

2. It's about $18.00 at wal-mart, but if you spend the gas money to get there, you'll probably spend a $100.00 before you leave, so go ahead & get it on amazon. It's a greener way to do it, UPS will pass your house anyway so let them bring it to you:)

3. FINALLY, you get a discount if you buy that slicing tool that is offer w/the frydaddy. I've used them all and this one is AWESOME. You can make french fries in about the same amount of time it takes to pull those nasty frozen one's out of the freezer. Plus, it chopps nuts & slices fresh fruits & veggies for salads. OH, and I paid a lot more for my slicer & I'm 99.9% sure this is the same one.

Hope this helps.
