I've used the Presto Microwave Bacon Cooker for several years and I never make bacon any other way anymore. It is very fast and very easy to clean up. After long-time use, and we use it several times each week, the plastic racks for the bacon tend to curve a bit from the heat and the weight of the bacon so they need to be replaced because the bacon is now longer that the plastic rack and it is harder to keep it out of the grease dripping off. But the bacon cooker is so inexpensive that we just buy a new replacement unit.Customer Review: Not worth it

I used to use one of these. Save your money by microwaving your bacon like this: lay a couple layers of paper towel on a microwavable plate or platter. Lay the bacon on the paper towel, then cover with at least one layer of paper towel to prevent spattering.
The paper towels absorb the grease. If you like, you can even do additional blotting of the bacon afterwards with paper towel. I feel that this approach eliminates as much grease as using this contraption, and it is easier to clean up afterwards.

As I rapidly roar toward middle-age, I have not been paying as much attention to my diet as I should. Then on my forty-something birthday, my friend gave me this Presto 05100 PowerCrisp Microwave Bacon Cooker. It was one of the best gifts I've ever received. Besides removing unhealthy grease and fat from my bacon, it actually is neater and more convenient than using a frying pan. But health, convenience and neatness be darned! The bacon tastes great! I was skeptical about this product, but after reading the good reviews I decided to order one and try it out. I was not disappointed; it exceeded my expecations!
I cooked 8 pieces of turkey bacon in 7 minutes and they were perfectly crisp and dry, with all the drippings neatly in the tray. I then cooked another 8 slices, rinsed & popped the trays in the dishwasher. Finally, a quick & easy way to make bacon without a messy pan and smoky smell!

Nothing beats my moms bacon in a frying pan. I've never been able to reproduce it. But for a close second while factoring in mess and clean up, you can't beat this. The only other negative, is why Alton Brown wouldn't like this; its a "uni-tasker". But I think if you use it all the time you can afford a few of those. Some say you can use paper towels, which i have done, but something worries me about having those dyes getting nuked on top of my food.
