Works well. Bell is truly loud enough to hear 1 or 2 rooms away. (2 only if doors are not shut, however.)
We use it as a time-out timer. Child knows she can leave time out when the bell sounds, and we can be in the next room or so and know she is not sneaking out early!
Construction seems solid. I'll let you know if it fails after the first few kid-drops or some other inevitable misadventure!
ADDENDUM: Nice while it worked, but it was definitely NOT toddler-resistant!!!
