I got this timer as a time-out timer for my toddler.
It has been great. I installed a magnetic strip right above where he sits for time out. I keep the timer preset for the amount of time he is supposed to be there. So, now when I tell him to go to time-out, he pushes the button on the timer and sits down. I have it set so that it will vibrate, alarm, and flash (you can choose one or all three), and when it goes off he stands back up, pushes the button, and goes about his business. :)

I bought this for my 5-yr old daughter to help with her homework that she needs to finish within a certain time. Now we also use it to help with the last 15 min of getting ready to get out of home, and using this timer is a lot better than me constantly reminding her to "hurry up, or you'll be late!". In fact it helps the grown-ups in the family too. Instead of just promising ourselves that we will do 5 more minutes of email before we get up and get ready, we just set the timer. This is a poor quality timer and it died on me after less than 2 months. I am a full time graduate student and I wanted a timer that I could turn off it's audible alarm while I studied and this Polder timer was just about the only one. I have been using it since I purchased it in early July 2008 and the vibrating function has died and it beeps even when the audible alarm has been turned off.
I am currently trying to get Polder to replace it under the warranty.

As a school psychologist, I am often asked for unobstrusive measures for reminding teachers to record behavior at specific time intervals. This particular timer is ideal because it can be silent with either a light alarm or vibrate alarm or all three. I have even used it with a child for self-monitoring purposes. The timer remained on the child's desk with only the flashing light alarm. It reminded the child to check behavior without distracting the other students. Easy to use!Customer Review: Great Product!

I am a special education teacher that works with deaf students. Working in the classroom we work on time management and also a regimented schedule that allows the students to work well. This timer allows me to work all students at the same time hearing and non hearing. With the lights, vibration, and noise, it is a great one stop timer I dont need to have one at each table now. It is great and more efficient. I recommend these for any special education classroom.
