Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Polder 898-95 Clock, Timer and Stopwatch, BlackCustomer Review: I Also Have Three! Summary: 5 Stars
I use mine as a timer in the kitchen and at work. What is really great is that you set it for hours, minutes and seconds. My other timer would only do hours and minutes which is fine for cooking, but at work I really needed the seconds. I like that it is readily accessible around my neck and actually use it that way when cooking. That way I can walk around the house, have the TV on and still hear when the timer goes off. The buttons can be pushed inadvertently, but it usually ends up being my time/clock display, not actually resetting the timer itself. This is a minor negative and does not interfere with the way I use the clock/timer.
Wonderful device. Highly Recommend.
Customer Review: Perfect BBQ timer Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this to use while grilling, and it's perfect for this task.
It works well, it's easy to use, and it's easy to read. It has a handy laniard so I can wear it around my neck and not have to dig around in my pocket for it while my hands are all gunked up with BBQ sauce or raw chicken juice, as I did while I used my cell phone clock as my BBQ timer (bad idea!). It also has a handy magnet so you can stick it on the fridge or even a metal part of your grill that doesn't get too hot.
One minor gripe - it doesn't have a light. Not a big complaint but at the same time I can't see why they would overlook such a simple and useful feature.
Customer Review: Second one now broken... Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this and had it break on me.
Polder was nice enough to replace it.
But the new one also broke after light use.
It's just not resilient enough. I know it's not supposed to be waterproof, of course, but just the smallest amount of water splashing on it is enough to ruin it. It's a kitchen timer! It needs to have some water resistance.
Plus on both of the timers I've had, plus the one a friend owns, the clear plastic covering the LED comes off too easily.
Polder, you can do better.
If you own this timer and have had yours break, please add a comment.
Customer Review: The three things I like Summary: 5 Stars
This timer is a family must! It has 3 settings--clock, count-up, and timer. I love two things about this timer: first, when the timer goes off it beeps for one minute and then turns off, so if I'm in the middle of something I don't feel like I have to rush to turn it off. Second, once the timer goes off it starts to count up, so then I know how long it's been since it went off. A handy feature in my opinion. And I'm also quite fond of the attached string. I'll set the timer for my kids and they just hang it on their necks until it goes off. It's perfect for a kitchen timer or kid time-out timer. I have two and bought one for my sister!
Customer Review: Love this! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband bought me this model as well as the one that looks like a sink top kitchen timer. I thought I would like the other one better since it is basically like the one my Mom and Grandmother had in their kitchens only on a string. It is too bulky and weighs a lot on my neck. I ended up liking this model so much more (they are both Polders). I have not burned anything since owning it. I can set it and wear it to my sewing room and actually eat something for dinner that is not overcooked because I did not hear the timer in the kitchen. I have since bought some for gifts and every one loves it.
