Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Pinzon Round Bamboo Chopping Block with Inset MezzalunaCustomer Review: Would make a nice gift Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This is a very heavyweight chopping block, and the included mezzaluna fits my hand perfectly. I downgraded it one star because the block's large, round size, while attractive, makes it take up a disproportionate amount of storage space, and the mezzaluna seems kind of "middle of the road" in quality. As advertised, the board's surface is very hard, but forgiving enough to make knife-work comfortable. The mezzaluna works well on the concave surface. The inset for storing the mezzaluna holds it nicely, keeping it from falling out but making it very accessible. The bamboo surface is supposed to be less prone to nicks and scratches than most wood cutting boards; time will tell. This would make a nice gift for someone who likes to cook, and chances are s/he doesn't already have anything like it!
Customer Review: Perfect Size Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The size of this block and mezzaluna is perfect for the average kitchen. We use it to chop fresh herbs, garlic, onions, nuts etc. The mezzaluna stores in the chopping block base which makes it handy and hard to misplace. The block makes a great cheese board for serving and cutting, and usually is good for a conversation on two. We actually use this more than we expected as it has so many uses...we got it primarily for herbs, but found we use it as a regular cutting board and for chopping vegetables etc. We leave it on the counter because of frequent use and find it to be quite attractive and well built. If you decide to buy this I would hope your experience is as good as ours. There are so many kitchen products that come and go...this is a keeper.
Customer Review: Mezzaluna with indented bamboo chopping block Summary: 5 Stars
I love it!!! My husband got it for me for Christmas and has never eaten so many salads. I really like the indented board. It is easier to hang onto the pieces of veggie when they have to run uphill to miss the knife blade. I already had an Alaskan ulu so now I have 2 great implements to use with the chopping block but only 1 will fit into the inset. Too bad! All in all, a very good product.
Customer Review: center piece Summary: 4 Stars
This is a really beautiful block so much so that it serves better as a center piece for my table than a chopping block, cant bring myself to use a knife on it so bought a cheap one for actual use. Also it was smaller than the picture made it look online, but still very happy that I bought it.....an excellent gift.
