It works.
The crank handle doesn't really stay on. It's threaded and if you reverse it, it unthreads easily. Some threadlock would help (though I don't know if that's safe around food) or if the threads were longer a nut on the end would help. I might try a stainless lock washer.
The corer blade is really tight and I couldn't loosen the wing nut to move it out of the way without pliers. However that may be necessary.
By the very nature of the thing, the skinner puts pressure on the apple and the corer gets a bit off center such that when you're done, you get little bits of the hard parts of the core still left on the inside of the apple slices. A couple options would be if the corer hole dia. was larger (lose more apple) or the corer cylinder blade was deeper, so it was into the apple before the skinner comes into play or at least earlier than it currently is (may present other problems).
I think some adaptability on the skinning blade would be nice to make it more versatile.
Overall, the only thing this suffers that aren't likely common to all of them is the handle.
