Customer Review: Great little machine
Summary: 4 Stars

After reading some of the reviews here I was not sure what model type of pasta maker to make. I've never tried making my own before but this little machine works great. For the price you cant really go wrong.

I havent had any problems and have used it a few times so far. I did drop the pasta cutting attachment so it doesn't turn so good anymore, but you can hardly blame this on the machine. I also tend to think that thicker cuts of pasta work better on the cutter - so i guess that is why it doesn't get 5 stars - the cutter is just so so.

However, i love making ravioli and lasagne sheets with it and they taste great. So if you want to try making pasta definitely give it a shot - it is only $25 bucks. Next time i go to buy a pasta maker i'll spend an amount on a good machine as at least i know now I can do it!

Havent had any grease, oil or rusting issues. Just don't use water to clean it and brush it down with a cloth.

Customer Review: Great for the pasta novice
Summary: 4 Stars

I am by no means a pasta expert (well, I have EATEN alot of pasta). I love to cook and wanted to try making my own pasta. I originally was goint to get the pasta maker set for my kitchen aid mixer but was turned off by the low user reviews and the high price.

When I was looking for the hand crank ones, I decided to try to find an affordable model as my starter. This Pizon was perfect for me. I was really pleased. My first try came out wonderful. I found it easy to use (even for someone who has never touched a pasta maker before). The pasta came out thin, did not stick, and was easily cut into the fettucine that I was going for.

Yes, the stilly handle did fall out and clanked onto the floor many many times. I will try another reviewers suggestion of taping it next time, or maybe a little plumbers tape on the end to give it a snugger fit. Overall, I highly recommend if this is your first try. Buy it!

Customer Review: Horrible Product, Do Not Buy.
Summary: 1 Stars

Upon opening the packaging the first thing the buyer will notice is the flimsy construction of the product. Due to the cheap price and other seller reviews, I expected this. What I did not expect is the absolutely abysmal quality of the pasta cutting attachment. First of all, you need to make sure that you have rolled your pasta to the thinnest setting, or else you run the risk of binding the gears. Second, the machine needs to cut at an incredibly slow pace. Finally, you have to make sure that the pasta is actually cut after you run it through the machine as it likes to only cut about every other line. I would also recommend not using the small angel hair (spaghetti?) setting as it is impossible to roll the pasta thin enough to not bind the machine.

The roller itself seems to work fine, and it looks like I will just use that and cut the pasta by hand as it seems that a child's play-dough set would do a better job.

Customer Review: save your money

If I could rate this product it would be BELOW one star! I've tried two of them, the first one the wider noodle side broke half way thru a batch of noodles. Even though the flat roller side worked... the gears on the wider noodle jammed. Plus the wooden handle also broke! Returning it and getting the second one. BOOM, same problem. The flat roller works, the skinny noodle cutter works, just NOT the wider noodle cutter (the reason I WANTED a pasta maker in the first place).

Amazon was VERY good about returning the defective maker. So I would rate Amazon's customer service trying to solve this problem a 5 star. Just would NOT, NOT recommend this individual product.

Save your money. I've heard so many people that have bought other pasta makers with no problems... bottom line, you get what you pay for.

Customer Review: look-alikes don't WORK alike
Summary: 1 Stars

I've been cranking pasta on this type machine since 1976... they all wear out like Italian cars; I'm on my 7th.
Got this for a new "cooking friend"... my current one's the $34.04-one on Overstock that's wider, so I bought her this one thinking her 6-year-old could crank it more easily.
Took her some semolina, and it was a piece of gear-grinding junk right out of the box on even soft dough. That was 6 weeks ago, and it's landfill already. Got her one like mine; even though it's "Chinese"... I've probably cranked through 200 batches since Katrina (hurricane) snatched my last one!!!
I know, from many "Italian-made" ones that look alike and were $25 through the 1980s, $35 through the 1990s and close to $100 NOW, they're the same un-fixable junkers with pot-metal gears today, as my first "Atlas" 35 years ago.
