I'm no spring chicken and these dishes have been in my family as long as I can remember. When I was young, I think I probably believed this was our family crest!
The pattern is classic and inspired by colonial techniques. It's the perfect pattern for those whose taste in decor runs toward Early American and/or Colonial/ Eastern Seaboard. The dutch blue is easily matched in stemware and in kitchen decor.
Pfaltzgraff isn't going to change this anytime in the near future, and frankly, they could discontinue it tomorrow and you would be fine. There are so many pieces of this out there that, if you like the pattern, it's a great choice in terms of supply yet you aren't going to see this in every other home. I run into it about every dozen years or more. Odd considering the sales of this pattern, but who's complaining?
Over the years, Pfaltzgraff has added some super cute pieces in limited amounts, and it's fun to pick one up here and there to add to the collection.
We found a lamp we thought looked amazingly similar in appearance. Turned out to have been made from an antique jug made in 1810!
This just further supports the authenticity of Yorktowne's appearance. Maybe that's why one reviewer didn't like their size. People of that era didn't sit in front of troughs, they ate off of plates.
The dishes don't chip particularly easily, and never have I seen one discolor or form web-like cracks. I assume they are dishwasher safe; I never stopped to look! They did just great.

The Yorktowne pattern was inspired by traditional salt glazes applied to Pfaltzgraff's original crocks and jugs. Crafted of fine Pfaltzgraff stoneware, this set includes four full place settings, each with 10-1/4-inch dinner plate, 6-3/4-inch salad plate, 12-ounce bowl, saucer, and 9-ounce teacup.
