I am so glad I bought this electric peeler. I am 73 years old and for the last 4 years I've not been able to peel potatoes nor apples due to the after effects of my harsh Chemotherapy drugs. I lost the feeling in my hands and feet therefore cannot hold knives nor work with such dangerous appliances. I had to buy pre-made mashed potatoes all this time, including canned apples for baking pies. Now, I am having fun again cooking and baking. The day my 'peeler' arrived I plugged it in and had a ball. I had 7 potatoes peeled in 3 minutes, yes, you have to pick out the eyes or a rotten dark spot, but who cares. They suggest all purpose potatoes but any kind will do as long as you cut the larger ones down to size, to about a 3 inch size. No problem! I am so happy just to be able to cook and mash my own potatoes again! Saves me a lot of money. Hoorah!!!

This product works just like the commercial potato peeler I used to use at a restaurant I worked at. It's just smaller. It peels the potatoes with no mess and actually makes mashed potatoes easy to make! If you peel potatoes even once a month, you can't go wrong with this device!

I don't know how it works for potatoes, I bought it for use on apples. It does not work well on apples. By the time it finishes with peeling the apple the fruit is banged up badly. Even then only half the skin is removed.
