We have just recently purchased this tomato slicer from Amazon. We do not normally do reviews but this item is so bad - We think that Amazon should pull it from their webpage. It will not begin to slice a tomato - It will squash it before it cuts it. We tried to saw it but that would not work either. We are going to see if it will slice an egg and if it won't do that we are going to throw it in the trash! I could have Amazon take it back - but I did read the bad reviews and ordered it anyway - It is really my fault for ordering it.

I received this as a wedding gift from my wishlist and I absolutely LOVE IT! I've only been using it for a couple of months so I don't know how long it stays sharp, but it quickly makes perfect tomato slices. I have looked at my local Target to purchase some of these for gifts and was unable to find any so I'm back to Amazon, ordering these to give to people I know can use it, like my mom. I highly recommend this item! Even if you only slice tomatos when you're making burgers, you will love the ease and convenience this little gadget gives you.Customer Review: Smaller than a mandolin, perfect for soft fruits/veggies

I bought this as a clearance whim in Target once and have loved it ever since! It's small, easy to store, and works really well. You have to "saw" the tomato, and be sure to keep your fingers out of the way! I'd buy one for someone who really likes tomatoes on their sandwiches or tomatoes with basil, oil, and mozzarella. I recently ordered a Pedrini Black & Satin Stainless steel Tomato Slicer through Amazon.com. The delivery was very prompt.
The slicer came with a clear plastic cover for the blades. But the problem is that the tomato slicer is very dull. The tomatoes are literally torn up by the time they are completely sliced. I would not order another one by Pedrini. I am not pleased at all with my purchase.

this is an amazing simple tool that cuts tomatoes, eggs, straberries - all those things you usually slice - great for thank you gifts - office co-workers - so many uses - so few of these - very difficult to find at retail stores, and on line you can buy onle 1 or 2 at the time - everybody would use one of these gadgets.
