This is quite a nice looking utensil, and works well enough as a nut cracker. It is heavier than one might expect. Build quality appears very good, much better than my other "Made in Italy" nutcracker, which itself cracked in an encounter with a Brazil nut.
For hard shell nuts, this may not be the ultimate device for the job. I've found that locking pliers, such as my 20 year old 10" Vice Grips, can easily beat any Brazil nut. The locking pliers are faster, stronger, and more efficient than your traditional designed nutcracker. For your dinner table, you decide which is more appropriate - I'm keeping both.
