Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Ped Egg Pedicure Foot File, Colors may varyCustomer Review: Better than my $50 diamancel file... Summary: 5 Stars
Ok- first of all I read the reviews here...
This is an amazing product and I hate to see that folks who aren't happy with the decisions they made to buy from random other places are putting negative reviews about this product....(read the negative reviews...you'll see)...
Anyway. I bought this at my local walgreens and it came with 1 pedegg and 2 emery "stickers" for additional smoothing action....And a little form to order more pedegg smoothing/sandpaper replacement stickers...
I have extremely callused feet - so bad that my calluses often make the back of my heels cracked and at right angles... I'd say the thickness of my calluses on the heels (where it is the worst) are around 1/8" thick. Gross.
Anyway- pedegg made quick and comfortable work of removing those calluses and then I used my stand alone smoothing file to finish the job....
I was amazed at how quick and comfortable it was and a little horrified (and fascinated) by the amount of callus dust in the containment area... There were a few tablespoons... It was nasty BUT my feet look better than they have in 6 years of using Diamancel's #20 file (which was close to $50 if I remember correctly).... This clearly did it's job...I washed it after use but I didn't have to stop and rinse it and it showed no signs of "gumming" up during the first run with it- unlike other foot implements that I have had to bang like heck or scrub to finish the job...
And this product seems much safer than the typical callus shavers on the market (and not as scary in concept!)....
I don't think the emery/smoothing sticker things are a big deal- for final smoothing I have a little revlon foot shaped thingy so I don't have to bend more than using this pedegg for a few minutes (I have a screwy spine and a busted hip)....
Anyway- great product if you have nasty feet like me or you like doing the home pedicure thing....
Customer Review: PedEgg for Foot Psoriasis and Thick Hardened Skin Summary: 5 Stars
I have been fighting what my Dermatologist has diagnosed as Foot Psoriasis for the past two years. The weired thing is that it's just at the bottom of my feet. I've had many bouts with thickening and cracking skin to the point where the fissures would bleed and hurt.
Recently I have discovered that a mega dose of Vitamin D3, Biotin and Fish Oil seems to help to keep it in check. Along with moisturizing my feet with medication and the different types of salves that the doctor prescribed. But inspite of all that, I still get the thickening of the skin and the eventual cracking though not as bad as before.
I've tried different types of emery boards and something similar to a rasp file intended to scrape off the dead skin but haven't had much sucess with any of them.
In desperation, I started using a Gillete Mach 3 razor which seems to work but more often than not, I take off too much skin to the point where it becomes red and sometimes bleed. NOT A GOOD THING!
I must laugh at the thought of using an ELECTRIC SANDER as some people have done (ROFLOL!), But in desperation, I would have tried it!
My wife just gave me one of her Ped-Eggs (AFTER she caught me shaving the bottom of my feet!) and I can immediately see the difference and the ease of using it. All I can say is "WOW", maybe now the bottom of my feet will heal sufficently that I can go back to the beach and not worry about the Salt hurting my open sores.
I have stopped Kayaking, Swimming and Snorkeling because the SALT water DOES sting when it hits the open wounds. But now I am encouraged that I can keep the bottom of my feet smooth, free of cracks and open sores from the callouse build up.
What's the point on living in PARADISE (HAWAII) if one cannot take advantage of all that it has to offer: i.e. Swimming, Kayaking, Surfboarding, Snorkeling ...etc. ???
Customer Review: Better than a Microplane for Pedicure Summary: 4 Stars
I had been thinking about getting the PediEgg Professional for some time and received one yesterday. First of all, I would recommend that you use this only on moisture-free skin to be effective. The included instructions are very easy to understand and the product is very easy to use if you have full use of your hand because you need to wrap your fingers around the hard plastic and move the tool back and forth on the dry skin. For me, the only difficulty is holding the egg under my foot so the exfoliated skin can be collected in the compartment, as my natural tendency is to place one leg over the other with the foot facing up and use the egg on top of that foot. In that case, the skin will fall out and onto the ground. If you have a willing party assist you by using the egg underneath your foot, I imagine it would be fantastic and you'd have no skin falling out of the compartment. My heels had become very calloused, so I didn't expect too much on the first attempt, but I was very impressed with the results. The emery pad has an adhesive backing, so it's attached to the flat bottom of the egg, the secondary part that protects the blades. This is a bonus in my opinion because it keeps all I need in one handy device, but I doubt that I'd spend the money for replacement pads and likely will purchase a separate device that would be longer lasting. It definitely polished the skin well. Follow up your treatment with a wonderful foot cream like one by Barielle or simply apply Aquaphor or Vaseline and wear light cotton socks to bed for the final step in softening your dry feet. Although I'm impressed with the PediEgg, I've deducted one star because the light plastic of the egg doesn't seem to be strong enough to last for years. When this one goes, I will get another updated model because it does really work on those nasty dry heels.
Customer Review: wish i could shave - my face - with it! Summary: 5 Stars
What a superb invention! Having entered the age of wiry eyebrows, sprouting ears and progressive lenses, I am particularly distressed by the elephant skin on my heels.
I've tried a number of efforts but they all require something that I don't have much of: patience and discipline.
And along came the Ped-Egg. Initially concerned that it might just be one of those infomercial throw-aways, I think it might be my new best friend forever...
Unless it serves me, I tend to be somewhat opposed to the capitalistic system - but whoever invented this gadget deserves whatever profit they attain. I may need to do some penance if I ever find out it's made by some kid chained to a table and I wish it was free of evil-plastic (whatever happened to Made in America? And relative to Our Environment...whatever happened to America?)...but maybe it's from recycled source (one could only hope) - or maybe they could make it from actual eggs!
This gadget is incredible. As advertised: no fuss, no muss (and no pain) - and my heels look 40 years younger (without the grass stains from being barefoot...or the rusty nails).
The most frightening part of it: the nasty funk that you find in the collection chamber...but, with a little bit of non-petrochemical adhesive, I might be able to create an environmentally friendly lumber substitute - no more pressure treated wood for me!
Maybe...just maybe...with all of the toxic chemicals I'm exposed to (the brain damage should be pretty clear), I'll grow some extra feet and my production will compete with the success of the Ped-Egg.
Customer Review: Works like crazy! Summary: 5 Stars
This Ped-Egg works better than even the huge nail files I used.
It smoothed my feet about ten times as well.
YES, some of the filings did escape, WHO CARES? Don't you guys have vacuums, there are lots of them on sale at Amazon.
It's about time I can wear pantyhose with no snags again. (not that I wear them in the winter)
You will have to use it about once a week, I found, to keep them smooth, and moisturize really well after you use it. IF you can stand it, take plastic and wrap your feet after moisturizing, THEN put on your socks, to help the cream stay there, and let it soak in naturally, on not end up on your floors instead!
The only thing I think should be mentioned is the REASON for dry cracked feet is POOR CIRCULATION. (or athlete's feet,if they itch)
If you are having this problem, and you're only 40, you'd better start thinking about your heart.
Dry feet are the least of your worries. And if you don't believe me, try looking at your elderly parents' feet. And their legs, for that matter. (if your parents are still alive, neither of mine are)
This is a common problem when people get older, especially if they have poor circulation. It stops the capillaries from removing the dead skin cells.
Dry cracked feet, and dry skin in general is one of the first signs.
So try as hard as you can to quit smoking, get ANY exercise you enjoy, so you will keep it up, and lose weight, and take care of your heart.
Once you do this, you will reduce your chances of having a heart attack at 55, or sooner!
Honestly.
Ask your doctor!
