Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Pasta N More 5 Piece Microwave Pasta Cooker Set with Bonus Cookbook

Customer Review: Works great in a shoddy microwave
Summary: 4 Stars

My husband brought this home as a gift for me two days ago. We were having a 4th of July party and our range heats up our small kitchen so much - he thought the Pasta N' More would save me from being over-heated. I'm pregnant, so the heat really gets to me.

I followed the directions carefully and because our microwave is pretty shoddy, I always add 5 to 10 minutes cook time to recipes that call for 15 or more minutes. We do not have a turntable style.

The pasta turned out well. Not 'perfect', but close. What I do not like is that the strainer lid cannot be left in place and is hard to snap on. The lid DOES stay on really well, though - no spilled pasta.

All in all, I am very happy with this product.

Customer Review: I'll keep my other pasta cooker!
Summary: 1 Stars

I received Pasta n' More as a gift. I already owned the Fasta Pasta Microwave Cooker, and was looking forward to comparing the two. And what I found out was: There really is no comparison. Pasta n More LOOKS like you're getting more for your money, but doesn't deliver. The instructions are unclear, and the cookbook that comes with it is lame. I've used it 4 times and my pasta has came out hard on the ends and pasty in the middle.
I've used my Fasta Pasta at least 50 times, and my pasta is always perfect. If you're wondering which one to buy, save yourself some time, money and pasta - get Fasta Pasta. Another bonus?? MADE IN THE USA!!(not China- Pasta n More is) I'm trying to buy American made products whenever I can

I was at first happy I got mine for a very good deal @ walgreens...On sale for $ 9.99. They seemed durable so
I was planning to go back and buy 2 more for my lazy friends who loves pasta. I test drive mine today with high hopes and big appetite but was completely disappointed. I steamed my tilapia fillets on 10 minutes high as instructed and ended up throwing it in the trash...Even my cat who loves tilapia wont eat it...It was dry on the ends and mushy on the meat...so disgusting!!! I will give this thing a benefit of a doubt and try to cook my brown rice tonight and see what happens.......I will however keep this thing and use it as a storage if it fails the second time but will definitely not buy it again.

Customer Review: Pasta N More 5 Piece Microwave Cooker Set
Summary: 5 Stars

This set had been recommended on a forum I read (with a link included). It sounded like the perfect way to cook pasta without having the whole house heated up by running the stove (I live in the AZ desert).
When I used it, it performed even better than I anticipated, and the steamer insert produced broccoli crowns cooked to perfection when I used it for the specified amount of time. (and it didn't heat up the house!)
The bonus cookbook had many recipes for foods that are common in our diet (i.e.: chili and beans; broccoli, potato, and cheese soup; spaghetti and sauce; tortalini)
I will be purchasing additional sets for gifting to family members living in the desert, too.

Customer Review: Works well
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed something to good pasta in for the summer when it's just too hot to spend 20 minutes boiling a huge pot of water. I saw this at the local dollar store for [...] bucks so I picked it up. It works very well so far. It's made out of very sturdy plastic and the handles make it very easy to take out of the microwave. Only downside is the cooking times aren't all that clear so it takes some guess work. I added half a pound of pasta and made sure the water covered it well and microwaved it for 12 minutes. It came out perfectly. I do think using will require some trial and error, but for 10 dollars (and a cool house) it's totally worth it.
