Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Pancake Puffs Aebleskiver Pan

Customer Review: Pleased with pancake puff pan
Summary: 4 Stars

I was a bit skeptical at first as to how the puffs would come out. Used a generic pancake/waffle mix to experiment the pan with. Greased the pan with generic pam shortenig spray before cooking. Upon turning them..the tops were still in semi liquid state..was a little challenge to flip them over but still came out as cute little spheres and the centers were cooked just fine. I thought the pan was of perfect size and the size of the puffs just right. My husband is impressed and wants me to make more and try out some other recipes with it. Now that I know that it works, I will invest in using better batters. There were two downfalls. The recipe book didn't have much to offer..secondly the extra bonus gifts weren't anything to write home about except for the padded handle cover which I thought was a great plus to have. I would recommend this product to a family member or friend.

Customer Review: Not Good At All
Summary: 2 Stars

When i saw this on TV it looked like a wonderfull little invention that would satisfy my sweet tooth. That could be no farther from the truth. The pan itself is much more smaller than i envisioned, it is really hard to turn the pancakes with the little sticks, and the whole thing creates such a mess that its just not worth the trouble. Truth be told this product would have received a 1, but i found a use for the injector that comes with the kit, so i give the kit a 2.
First get you a real muffin/cupcake pan, fill each 2/3 full with pancake batter and bake at 425 for 12-15 minutes after oven is preheated, then just inject whatever filling you want into them.

I got my set for 10$, and its worth about 2$, just for the injector. I reccomend you stay far away from the pancake puff here, you'll just be wasting your money.

Customer Review: Do any of you cook or what?
Summary: 5 Stars

The pan is non stick and a child could turn them over. They are the easist food to cook. It is basically mistake proof. You polk the long tooth pick to the side to scoop it up against the edge of the pan and turn it with the other forefinger. It's that easy and they come out delicious. You can use regular pancake mix and put maple syrup on it. Or you just fill the pan half way and put chocolate, fruits or what ever you like and then just pour the rest of the mix on top and turn them in two minutes. That's it. You can make them sweet by putting powedered sugar and cinnimon on the top. Trust me, adults love these pancakes too and they are impressive looking. You can get good recipes on the willima sonoma site. The only down side is the handle gets very hot. The new william sonoma pancake pan has now eliviated the problem.

Customer Review: No problems so far
Summary: 4 Stars

I got this on clearance and was somewhat apprehensive after reading the less than glowing reviews here. I have to say that they must have done some improvements to the pan because I had no problems whatsoever making these today.

1) The pan comes with a cover for the handle, so no worries about it getting too hot.
2) I had no issue with the pancakes sticking. I used a non-stick coating spray and heated the pan for 10+ minutes on low. There was no sticking, no burning and I was able to flip the pancakes puffs easily using the stick and my fingers.
3) I used regular pancake mix, so I can't speak to some of the concerns with the brownies and such. I will try that tomorrow.

If you can get this for a good price, I would not let the negative reviews deter you.

Customer Review: Was not as advertised
Summary: 1 Stars

Sorry, folks, but we had to return this Puff Pancake Kit soon after we received it. It just did not work as advertised. First we made pancake puffs: they did not rise as shown, but were flat rounds. We tried another recipe: same thing, and they were not easy to turn. Next we tried brownies: they were not done in center, but when we let them cook a little longer, they tasted burned on the outside. It was just such a disappointment, that we thought it best to send back. Of course, we paid for the shipping both coming and going plus a restocking charge so we "paid" to find out it just didn't work.
