Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3-Cup Automatic Rice Cooker

Customer Review: Quickly cooks rice, but pan peels!
Summary: 4 Stars

This rice cooker works very well; cooks rice quicker than my Zojirushi, and it's all evenly cooked. However, early on, the bottom of the pan started to peel. Little 1/16th inch blisters formed on the bottom of the pan, and the teflon coating came off in those spots. I have emailed and called Panasonic about this problem, but they say they can't do anything about it. They even claimed no one has reported this problem to them! However you can find reviews that state the same peeling problem on Amazon's site. Panasonic said I could buy a new pan from their parts department, but the price was not worth it. Too bad, because it's a reliable machine that cooks rice well.

Customer Review: 3 stars because rice is good
Summary: 3 Stars

This LITTLE gem makes good rice. TWO cups of rice. NOT 3.3 & not 6 as it says on the box. 2 as in TWO. as in 16 oz. And that is it's full capacity. Oh it also does not have a warm cycle. When I opened the large brown box and removed all the bags of air, I literally Laughed Out Loud. My husband said, "Look our old rice cooker had a baby!" Well that will teach me to read the details more thoroughly. I'm keeping it because the rice is good, it doesn't boil over, make a mess and has a handy dandy little spoon holder on the handle. But there are just the two of us so if you have a family I'd look at another model.
2 c. rice + 1 and 3/4 water = nice rice.

Customer Review: Love it, but not gonna marry it
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a simple rice cooker, no frills. It cooks rice, well at that. My girlfriend and I eat the rice, and we like it. Although it can cook rice better than my girlfriend can cook rice (she can't boil water!), my girlfriend is better at other things that the rice cooker can't do. I still prefer my girlfriend to the rice cooker.

We cook mostly basmati. Cook time seems to be shy of 30 minutes, and rice stays warm by steaming. We always cook the minimum 1 cup, adding water up to the line after adding the rice. Don't expect to get the steaming basket with this model--you gotta pay extra for those kind of novelties.

Customer Review: Awesome little rice cooker
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the first rice cooker I've ever owned, and as my first experience with rice cookers - it's great. I cooks more than enough for 3 or 4 people, or two huge portions for me and my gluttonous friends! You just throw the rice in pot, fill water to a certain line according to how much rice you put in, turn in on and in no time you've got a pot of great rice. (i would recommend using a little bit more water than what they say to use to get the rice a little more fluffier).

Now I've got me a wok, and making all kinds of wonderful rice dishes... I don't know how I've gotten by so long without a rice cooker.

Customer Review: Hasn't failed to make good rice yet...
Summary: 4 Stars

The Panasonic SRG06FG is a no-frills rice cooker, but that's really all you need. The size is perfect for a small family (3-4 people) and cooking rice is a cinch. I didn't bother reading the instructions really (think I threw them out with the box actually), but 1 1/2 cups of water for every cup of rice is a safe formula to stick with. If you put less than that, the bottom of the rice could burn slightly (although some people actually like that). So far, this one hasn't failed me and it's easy to clean. The size is right, the price is right and the rice (or quinoa, as the case has been) cooks well every time.
