I got this rice cooker used at Goodwill yesterday for $4.99. I have been wanting to try a rice cooker for years, but didn't feel I could afford one. I have just cooked my first batch of brown rice, and so far so good. I did know to rinse it and soak for 30 minutes, so didn't have any foaming. I knew it was done when the lovely smell of rice spread through the house to the room I was working in. I never noticed that rice smells good before -- guess I was heretofor stuck in the hot kitchen with the boiling pot -- too close to appreciate it! Thanks for all the good advice. I've read through many of the reviews and they are more helpful than the product manual, which I accessed through the internet.Customer Review: Terrific little cooker

This is a terrific little rice cooker so long as you realize it's limits. For instance: One cup of rice (or for that matter, coffee), is approximately 6 ounces, NOT 8 ounces. So this cooker is good for about 2.5 regular cups of uncooked rice. I use a ratio of 1 cup of rice to 1.5 cups of water and the rice turns out perfectly.
I sorta wish it had the warming feature the more expensive models have, but it's small footprint is really appreciated in my small kitchen. (It fits perfectly inside my crock-pot).

Despite all the other reviews. I will give you my full honest review.
I read all the other ones about people complaining how this little thing was NOT that great. I have to differ. This thing does exactly what its suppose to do. I've been using this thing for about 1 month now and its great. Its alot smaller than i had pictured it but it makes just enough rice for a family of 3. It makes perfect white rice every time. i have not tried any other rice beside the white rice. Never had any spilling of liquid or burnt rice. Overall, as long as you read the correct measurements. everything will turn out perfect everytime! I would definately purchase this model again.

I needed a simple rice cooker and I found it. It's not advanced, it doesn't do timed cooking but it works perfectly for all the different kinds of rice I've used so far. I max out the capacity for 2 people and I've made a ton of rice with it since I got it. Great product. Eventually I'm going to want a bigger one and a timed one that keeps it warm and does other stuff but for a starter, this is perfect. One note: I use broth instead of water for most of my rice, if you do that, you might need to add a little more broth than you would with water or it may slightly brown the rice on the bottom of the pot. That's it! Love the thing! Great buy.

If you're looking for a cheap and easy to use rice cooker look no further.
I purchased this rice cooker on sale for somewhere between $15 and $20, and wasn't sure what I'd be getting, but it has exceeded my expectations. It's small, easy to store and clean, and makes enough rice for about two people.
I'm not a huge connoisseur or rice, so I'm not sure how it stacks up against the $100+ versions, but I've always been happy with its speed, and the quality of rice it produces. It's the perfect little machine for the "casual" rice cooker who doesn't want to spend a fortune. Overall, it is a very good product at an even better price.
