Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3-Cup Automatic Rice CookerCustomer Review: Perfect little rice maker/wish it came with a steamer basket Summary: 5 Stars
This is the perfect rice cooker for one to two people. I live in NYC, space is limited but this little guy leaves a very small foot print on the counter and light enough to move into cabinet every day if must. Only thing, I wish it came with a little steam basket but I put my veg. in just as the rice stops cooking and let it sit for about 10 min (if I have time. Broccoli is perfect, cut carrots thinner and they will be fine too with a little crunch to them (don't like soggy carrots anyway) Easy clean up. again wish there was a steam basket or at least one you can buy. Oh well everything else really makes up for it. Cooks white rice perfectly, you have to play with the water with brown rice but I found my perfect water amount and now I make perfect brown rice. Very much recommend this product.
Customer Review: Loooove this rice cooker! Summary: 5 Stars
I had had the same Hitachi rice cooker since I moved out on my own for 10 years! and it still worked. Kudos for hitachi for that, but it was looking old and nasty and really needed to be put out of its misery.
I bought this one which is much smaller but it makes more than enough rice for a family of 4 two eat two meals from. And we are not small portion eaters! It is small, compact, and cute. It has a non-stick pot so the rice will not stick to the bottom, which it would with my old hitachi.
My only gripe is that it does not reheat the rice as thoroughly as my hitachi did. The top of the rice is still cold while the bottom is steaming hot. You have to stir the rice around a bit and then turn it back on again.
Customer Review: Simple rice Summary: 5 Stars
I've have had an early version of this rice cooker for 15 years. But its the last 5 years that I have used it frequently.
Needless to say the instructions disappeared years ago. The first I'd heard of soaking rice was recently.
It makes perfect rice for me. I make brown or wild rice, even an exotic black Canadian rice. I don't soak or rinse the rice (but may start).
First I coat pot with olive oil spray. Measure in my water, add measured rice, usually a 2:1 water to rice ratio. I don't use the internal markings on pot.....
Putting the water in first has eliminated any burning. Making the max amount has always made a little mess. So, I'm buying a bigger size rice cooker!
Customer Review: Not the Double-Boiler Type of Rice Cooker Summary: 4 Stars
We had a Tatung double-boiler type of rice cooker since the 1980s, which has cooked many thousands of batches of rice. I finally thought we should get a new rice cooker for our family of six. This Panasonic rice cooker is easy to use and easy to keep clean. It isn't the double-boiler kind of rice cooker (which is hard to find these days), so the rice at the bottom of the pot gets a little browned by high heat near the end of the cooking cycle, but stirring the rice before serving (as directed) makes for a great batch of rice, and the size of this cooker is just big enough for six eaters. People who eat a lot of rice or invite guests over for meals would want the next larger size, or the largest size of rice cooker.
Customer Review: Not Quite What I Expected Summary: 5 Stars
Don't get me wrong, this is an excellent rice cooker. On that note, there is little more I could say that hasn't already been said in previous reviews.
However, the product description is somewhat misleading. I ordered this specific product because the description said it also comes with a steamer basket. The model I bought (the one in the description) "does not" have a steamer basket. So pay very close attention to which model you are actually buying!
I was moreso seeking a rice cooker so when this model arrived, I really didn't want to go through the hassel of returning it and waiting for the right model.
Also, this model was supposed to come with a wooden rice paddle. No paddle is included!
