If your a cook of homemade pizza, and you have the high sided pans used in making pan pizza, you'll wonder how you ever got along without this useful little item. I got mine from the same company that produces and sells the aluminum 14" pizza pans on Amazon. It has been well worth the purchase price of a few bucks, and is very well made and sturdy. What I like about the design is that the tighter you squeeze on the clamp handle the tighter it grips the pan. This clamping handle will also work on any high sided metal baking pan; I put it to the test by lifting a hot, food filled 10" cast iron skillet from the oven just the other day. It worked with no difficulty what-so-ever, and offered a great leverage advantage on a very heavy pan. I wouldn't use it with glass pans though, as the pressure would obviously crack them. But for cakes, pies, and of course pizza, you can't go wrong having one of these clamp handles available for lifting hot pans from the oven.Customer Review: Very Good, but you MUST use two hands for 14" deep dish

I've bought two of these over the years. The first worked great, until the first time I made a full deep-dish 14" pizza. The leverage was too great. I was able to set the steel pan down on the oven door, and get another grip on it and hold it, but I actually gripped it so hard that I crushed the gripper (I have very strong hands.)
There was nothing wrong with the gripper; I just could not get enough leverage to lift a full 14" pizza without gripping too hard.
We bought a second one, which I have now used for many years with no problems. Full-sized pizzas, however, are always pulled partially off the oven rack, then lifted with a pot holder under the pizza to ease the weight.
If you make deep-dish pizza, you need this gripper. I only gave it four stars because I wish it had been a little sturdier, but if you remember to use a second hand on larger pizzas, it will work well.

After trying to use this gripper... I put it in the drawer and went back to computer to look for another brand.... I was so dissappointed in this gripper.... It is very clumsy to use. Its not very well made and with no silicone covering the tong end it slips off the pan.. The handle are bent in a way that makes it difficult to use... I do not recommend this product...I have since found another product similar with silicone covered handles and rubber ends on the tongs that grip the pan to be lifted.... It was much better... I bought this with the 14 inch deep dish pizza pan, and almost wish I'd bought two of them. With the larger pan, and with loaded toppings its a little too much weight to take out of the oven with just one hand, but the gripper is definitely easier than trying to grab a hot pan with an oven mitt.Customer Review: Don't use for 14" Deep Dish Pan

We ordered the 14" deep dish pan and the gripper. But taking the pizza out of the oven, the gripper part that held the pan twisted and almost sent the pizza to the floor. It is a great concept - just don't use it for the 14" pan, the pizza is just too heavy for it.
