Customer Review: Not As Good As It Used To Be But Better Than The Rest

I've been using the O'cedar Power Strip sponge mops for decades - really! The mop itself lasted forever with only the sponge having to be replaced about once every 12 to 18 months. I liked the one edge that had the rough strip for erasing hard to clean scuffs from linoleum or tile. Unfortunately, like practically every other product on the market, the quality and durablity have been diminished by the manufacturer. The mop handle and sponge have gone through a few changes over the years - changes, but definitely NOT improvements! The materials are weak and break down very quickly. The sponge falls apart after a few months and right now I'm mopping without the rough strip because it peeled right off after a couple of months even though the spoge has a few months of life left. I never had that happen before. The handle has been improved from the "last improvement" that was introduced about 10 years ago. I felt like Supergirl because I was able to actually bend and break off the base of the handle where it was attached to the metal piece that holds the sponge and the clamp that's used to wring it. That happened to a couple of the mops from that era and O'cedar fixed the problem but not to the superior standards of their original product. Yet, I still prefer this mop to any others on the market. I just resent the fact that rather than raise the price to ensure the same profits, they've cheapened the quality and have probably kept the price the same. Though they're hard to find in stores, I'll try to hunt them down online and I'm happy to have been able to find them at Amazon.
