Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of PUR FC-500S Flavor Cartridge, 2-Pack, StrawberryCustomer Review: God Jam(n) it! Summary: 1 Stars
Flavor is ok, but that's irrelevant. The things jam up and do not work 90% of the time! At least in the pitchers... I don't know why or how, but I've tried fixing it and went through 4 bottle and they all stop working after a few days even though they are really full. The worst part was when I called Pur to point out the negative reviews of this and especially of some of their pitchers on Amazon, such as one that nearly everyone pointed out starts leaking from the bottom. I pointed this out in a nice way to show that it's a common and known issue. Since P&G spends millions on focus groups and such, I figured they'd be happy to have information handed to them. Nope..it's not their policy to look at online reviews, and all they could do is give me a coupon for some flavor bottle and a new pitcher...which started leaking again. The water is great but only if you keep it simple and stick to a no-frills plain shaped pitcher.
Customer Review: Yummy Summary: 4 Stars
I was pleasantly surprised by this flavor. I normally don't like diet drinks at all, but my daughter does, so I got it for her. I didn't notice an aftertaste and like the flavor a lot. It doesn't taste as artificial as I'd anticipated. I use two squirts in a 12 ounce cup - it tastes just fine and is much less expensive that regular soft drinks. I really can't imagine using 5 squirts in an 8 ounce glass - it would be horribly sweet (and I have a major sweet tooth). It's cheaper than flavored bottled water, but it seems to me that it's still a little pricey, given that you're providing your own water and container and mixing it yourself.
Customer Review: A little chemical tasting but still good Summary: 3 Stars
I love the PUR faucet mounted water filter and saw the commercial for the flavorings and they seemed interesting. I have to say, I was a little dissapointed. I was expecting more of a realistic fruit taste and instead it tastes very artificial with that sort of fake sweetener aftertaste (a lot like those Fruit2O water bottles). All in all, its nice to have the option to add a little flavoring to the water, and I have found that the colder the water, the better the flavoring tastes. I don't think I will buy this again but I will continue using what I have.
Customer Review: Buy Your Own Flavor Summary: 1 Stars
When a company rushes out with something that doesn't even fit well into the pitcher, doesn't dispense very well, is artificial flavor and is grossly expensive, it simply means more planning was necessary before launching such a venture! The PUR filter systems still don't remove fluoride, unfortunately, so people with heart problems and such probably should stick to bottled water. In the meantime, if you want taste, by some fruit juice at the store and add a dash to each pitcher full.
Customer Review: Not too bad Summary: 4 Stars
I'm not a big fan of strawberry, but I got it for my wife and she likes it. It takes about 3 squirts to flavor a 12-16oz glass of water. With that in mind, you're looking at about 30 glasses worth per $5 bottle. So, I'd say to save the flavor for when you're not thirsty so that you can savor it.
