Customer Review: Makes for Better Taste, BUT....

It doesn't remove chlorine (just the taste and smell -- see updated package), neither does it remove flouride, which regardless of what you hear, has NEVER shown any positive benefit to being added to our water. It just makes heart patients unable to drink it safely. Unit price also has increased again and the product is disappearing from store shelves in 3-pack.
Where can one get water that's just water?? In my opinion this filter is better than nothing, but still a far cry than bottled spring water. I want the chlorine and flouride out. If you want to do some interesting reading, do some responsible research on the web about flouride.

These are really easy to change. I am using them on the PUR water filter dispenser system, but I believe they're also compatible with the pitcher systems. They need to be 'primed' before using them (they've got to be in water for some time then rinsed; nothing complicated). As for the price, well, that's how most companies get you these days. You buy a cheap starting system, and then you've got to spend 5-10 times to replace proprietary filters (or cartridges if you were buying a printer.) That's just the nature of the business.... I'd rather pay a little extra money and make sure my filter is changed regularly, giving clean water, and still limiting my plastic waste.Customer Review: Expensive ... get a better filter system.

I've tried several such items (including these).
If you look for the under sink kind of filter (Omni was what I went with) you can get a nice .5 micron filter system for about $50 for the whole kit.
Filters are about $15 and do 550-750 gallons each (ie last 4-6 months for most people) ...
Bottom line you buy one for $50 and install it (pretty easy if you're at all handy ... handy 101 ... basic stuff) ...
then for about $45 per year you have lot's of very high quality filtered water.
THIS THING DOES LIKE 40 GALLONS ... DO THE MATH ... IT'S EXPENSIVE AND A PAIN IN THE b&## ... AND DOESN'T DO AS MUCH AS A HIGHER GRADE FILTER.

3 for 20$ or 7$ for each filter. Recommended use is approximately 2 months. Then I figure, do I spend 7$ on water for 2 months? Actually, probably 20 to 30$ which mean I am saving more than 20$ every 2 months. Plus, no more hauling gallons of water from the grocery. No kidding, they are heavy.
Most important of all, I won't be contributing much to the millions of water bottles that ends up on the landfill. After all, it is always being argued that tap water is as safe if not safer than the water you get from bottled water. Some of our household members find it hard to believe that argument. So enter the water filters. Now, everybody's happy.
Customer Review: PUR has solved the compatibility issue for PUR-200 cooler

As most of the reviewers with incompatible PUR200 Cooler dispenser I was not finding the CRF-950 filters anymore and few trials with the older CRF-950Z lead to similar disappointment. After Calling P&G/PUR on 1 800 787 5463 I got my answer. Any CRF-950Z with LOT# > 8001 works now with PUR 200. It seems that they kept the same design but shortened it a little bit to fit the PUR 200. It still does not have the indicator (which I thought was cool) but the sticker does the job.
I am writing this review so people who search the internet would finally have an answer to their worries and not to dispose off their PUR 200 (which is a great product).
