Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of PUR CRF-950Z 2-Stage Water Pitcher Replacement Filter, 3-PackCustomer Review: You can't find anything better Summary: 5 Stars
No, they don't come anymore with an indicator that the filter needs to be changed. I marked my calendar for 2 months and will check to see if the water flow has slowed considerably before then. In any case, these will fit the old-style upright PUR pitcher and are the Only filters PUR sells now, so what are you gonna do? These new ones need to be soaked in water first then flushed to remove loose charcoal. The water filtered through them is absolutley tasteless. PURfect. Given no options, I will keep reordering these.
Customer Review: Filters well but slowly Summary: 3 Stars
This is a good filter, and in general the PUR pitchers are superior to Brita because they don't allow water in the top chamber to spill out if you try to pour water while it's still filtering. This is a good thing because, after only a couple weeks of use, it gets so slow that it can take over an hour to filter one re-fill of water. Because of this, if I continue with the PUR filters over Brita I'll be replacing them monthly or even every three weeks. It also looks like PUR filters out more stuff than Brita does.
Customer Review: Excellent water filter system ***BUT BEWARE**** Summary: 4 Stars
PUR is the best inexpensive water filter system out there; it is mountains better than Brita's crappy filtering. I've been a Brita user for 1-2 years and their filters have degenerated greatly.
I just called PUR and expressed my extreme displeasure with this change. The rep advised me that there's a new "calender sticker" system that (DUH) you change every 2 months. Great, thanks, but I can just put a reminder to myself in MS Office.
BRING BACK THE ORANGE INDICATOR SYSTEM, DAMMIT!!
Customer Review: huge savings over time Summary: 4 Stars
after the initial investment a few months ago for the pitcher (and a couple personal carry size stainless steel bottles) plus the filters, we are almost even with the expense of lugging 2-3 gallons a week home from the store. each filter's lifespan varies, but we're totally satisfied with the improved taste of our city water, and change the filter after a month or two because it has slowed so much - though the taste is still fine. and of course there's the benefit of having less plastic recycling.
Customer Review: Great Price on PUR Filters! Summary: 5 Stars
These are the same great PUR filters I have been using for years, only better in two ways.
They say the filtration process is improved, I can't swear to that, but I can put in some bad tasting municipal water and come out with very nice water to drink and make coffee with.
The second way I can swear to--the price. At my local Walgreen, Rite Aid or Ace I have to pay $15.00 per filter, at Amazon I get three for $20.00 with free two day Prime shipping! Not much else to say, is there?
