Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of PUR CR-6000C 2-Stage Oval Water Pitcher with LED Indicator

Customer Review: Pur water pitcher with LED indicator
Summary: 4 Stars

Purchased this about one month ago. It seems to work well; it hasn't cracked or broken as some others have claimed, and it does take about 15 minutes for the water in the upper reservoir to filter through. The LED indicator seems a little cheesy, though; apparenty it senses when the cover has been removed and bases the life of the filter on how many times the cover is taken off - with the assumption that the upper reservoir gets refilled every time the cover is removed. This doesn't really take into account how spent the filter is, which can vary widely depending on the type and concentration of the pollutants in your tap water. If one was really concerned about water quality, I suspect they'd probably be purchasing a reverse osmosis unit instead of looking at <$20 plastic filters on Amazon. As for me?... I'm planning on buying a second Pur pitcher/filter for my second office.

Customer Review: BUY IT
Summary: 5 Stars

I live in Costa Rica, while many areas of the country are safe to drink out of the faucet, I currently live in one where the water smells like dirty and tastes kind of funny.

I was hesitant about a filter jug but after buying a faucet one and realizing it didn't fit my faucet I gave this a try. 1 word, WOW.

The water tastes soooo good, the jug barely has to be put together. to take off the top is easy to refill water. The water filters pretty fast, about 10 minutes for a full jug. and the led indicator light at the stop flashes green letting you know it's still not time to change the filter.

No more going to the grocery store and buying 5 pound jugs and lugging it up my second floor apartment
I'm so happy and mad at myself for not getting it sooner. I'm drinking lots more water then I used to.

Customer Review: Award-winning atrocious design and the lid from hell
Summary: 1 Stars

As other reviewers have noted, removing the lid in order to re-fill the pitcher is difficult. To be more accurate, difficult is an understatement. The lid fits on very tightly, and there's no way to easily remove it or pry it open. On the back, you can try and push the lid up and with enough brute force it may come off. But thanks to sharp plastic corners, you're likely to rip a gash in your thumb as I did during the first week. The design is just atrocious.

How can a company that sells water pitchers not design one that's at least somewhat easy to open and refill? Sure, coming up with the cheapest design and manufacturing is profitable, but don't the real profits come from selling more cartridges? This might be an example of where offshoring design isn't a very good idea. Needless to say, my days with Pur are numbered.

Customer Review: I love it!
Summary: 4 Stars

I am a water junkie and I wanted to do the right thing and stop buying bottled water at the grocery store. As a water snob, I HATE the taste of tap water and will drink anything else before going to the tap - even when hungover!

The PUR pitcher is the first filtration system I've used and, so far, I love it. Because the water is readily available, I drink much more of it - which is a lot healthier. I love always having water available when I'm thirsty - it's so easy to fill and just keep on hand. The best part about it, though, is that it tastes great!

I've had the pitcher for about a month and haven't yet had to change the filter. I realize that there is a cost to replacing the filter every few months, but I've probably already saved that much by not buying bottled water every week at the store.

Customer Review: Gets the job done!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have now used both a faucet mount PUR filter and the PUR pitcher. I guess I have to say that I like them both. The only reason I got the pitcher was because I was sick of the faucet mount getting in my way. But both work equally well. I like the pitcher because it goes in the 'fridge so you have COLD water all the time. With the faucet mount, even though you run cold water through it, it isn't always as cold as from the 'fridge. But then, you don't have to wait for filtered water when you get it through the faucet mount. With the pitcher, you have to wait a little bit for the water to flow through the filter into the pitcher. Also, replacing the PUR pitcher filter is a little easier and a bit less messy than with the faucet mount. But like I said, I like them both, for different reasons.
