This rice cooker performs exactly like the traditional Asian rice cookers that I've grown up with. The only important difference is that I don't have to worry about any non-stick coating on my cookware potentially being harmful to my health. The cooking bowl in the rice cooker is entirely stainless steel. I know there are some that question the safety of cooking with stainless steel (arguing that it is not a completely inert material and can leach nickel, etc), but I feel that what non-stick coatings can leach is a bigger threat.
In terms of performance, it doesn't disappoint. The rice comes out wonderfully soft and fluffy. There is no strange metal taste from the steel. I use the same ratio of rice to water that I always used with my older rice cookers with the non-stick coating. The owner's manual recommends a 1:1 ratio, which is fine. I prefer to put a little more water. I've left the rice cooker plugged in for 8 hours after the rice finished cooking and the rice remained moist. Admittedly, cooking brown rice is turning out to be a bit of a challenge. It comes out undercooked so I will be working on the water ratio as well as perhaps letting the brown rice soak for a while before plugging the rice cooker in. Washing the steel bowl is a breeze. There is only a very thin layer of rice that gets stuck to the bottom and it comes off easily after soaking a few minutes in the sink. No elbow grease necessary.
I am so glad I finally found this healthy alternative for cooking my rice! Highly recommended!

Stainless steel cooking bowl has an Aluminum inner core for uniform heating without burning of the rice. This cooker is tailored for persons looking to cook meals without chemicals from teflon or other non-stick material leaking into their foods. This cooker also uses 3 dimensional heating (base side and lid) for keeping rice warmed evenly after cooking. This enables this rice cooker to keep the warm time past the normal 12 hour limit.
