Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oxo Good Grips i-Series Jar OpenerCustomer Review: Worst Item I Ever Bought on Amazon.com!!! Summary: 1 Stars
This is probably the worst item I ever bought on Amazon.com...and I order all the time! I read all the reviews and decided to buy this jar opener. All it did was scrape the paint off the jar I was trying to open! Instead, I took one of those rubber openers- that are sold in the supermarket (for much much less money)...and it did the job perfectly! Don't waste your money on this gadget! Trust me...it is disappointing!!! :(
Customer Review: Great for small hands & big jars Summary: 5 Stars
I have small hands and have difficulty opening large jars. This works great. The opener gives me enough leverage to open big lids I could barely have gotten my hands around (but also works well for small lids) and the nonskid rubber disk makes it possible to easily hold the jar in place on the counter while exerting that leverage. Then the disk neatly attaches to the opener so the two stay together in my kitchen drawer.
Customer Review: Still need strength! Summary: 2 Stars
I have another gadget that works great on jars that don't have a lip under the lid so I thought I'd try this for those jars (like Classico pasta sauce) that my little gadget doesn't work on...but you still need strength of a muscle man! Maybe I'm doing something wrong but even my husband tried it and said it was easier to just open it with his hands. The "teeth" on this opener just slip...very disappointed.
Customer Review: OXO jar opener Summary: 4 Stars
Not always sure if a product lives up to the advertising, but this one sure does. A boon to anyone who has trouble opening jars. Even though the jar sits on a plastic ring, you still need one good hand to steady the jar and the other one to turn the opener. It has opened everything I asked of it with the exception of a small bottle cap, but that may have been 'operator error'.
Customer Review: Use as suggested - it's super Summary: 5 Stars
While I can open almost all bottles on my own, there are a few that resist all the usual blandishments - tapping the lid on the counter, using hot water on it, etc.
For even those reluctant jars, place the plastic on the counter to hold the jar in place, put the opener on the lid - presto ... it's almost magic how easily it opens.
