Customer Review: Cannot recommend this Oster pressure cooker

I cannot recommend this cooker. First it's not obvious this has a detachable weighted pressure regulator. It's square and inserts into the lid, making it appear to be a built-in. I purchased this in late April, and used it about once a week since. It performed fine. But within 2 months a small plastic tab in the lid that locks the lid on broke. I emailed Gibson USA (who makes this Oster product) about the broken tab. They insisted on sending a gasket first. I told them OK, I'll go along, though I was sure that wasn't the problem. Unfortunately the gasket they sent was larger than for my model cooker so I can't even use it as a spare. When I emailed the person at Gibson saying the gasket didn't fix the problem, I got no response. I sent a new email with the particulars to their customer care department, but got no response from that either. I had to call and leave a voicemail for a manager in order to get a response. The manager's response via email said I needed to send the defective part in. That was o.k. even though I had to pay to ship it, but I wish we hadn't wasted more than a month to come to that determination. It took about 1.5 weeks for the replacement lid to come. I noticed something I hadn't with the original lid - the handles were screwed in tightly and didn't jiggle. And, on the packing slip it was very clearly labeled as a "one time replacement" though anyone looking at this small plastic tab would realize it's pretty weak. I can only hope it will last since it appears I don't have a second chance. I cannot recommend this because of the quality of the components, their lackluster customer service, and the "one time replacement" policy.
