Customer Review: Great blender, just wish it had more than one speed
Summary: 4 Stars

I would give it 3.5 stars, really but it's better than a 3 so I had to put 4. This is certainly a powerful blender...sometimes I wonder if it's going to fly off the kitchen counter the second you turn it on. I thought I wouldn't care that there's only and on/off button but after using it a few times, it kind of bothers me...the second you flip the switch it's like going from 0-60 immediately and sometimes I just want to gently mix things, not pulverize them.

I was surprised when I made a smoothie with almond butter that the blender didn't smooth out the almond chunks into the mix...that was kind of the point of buying this particular model in the first place. Instead I got a smoothie with a weird gritty feeling. Deal breaker? No. Slightly annoying? Yes.

Overall it's a great blender and the styling is really nice...it's very sturdy and not cheap looking/feeling at all. My only complaint is the one on/off button. I realized I like having various speeds to choose from. One day I'll suck it up and buy a VitaMix. Until then, this is fine.

Customer Review: Simple and Sturdy
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this blender for 4 months now, I use it almost everyday, and I've been very satisfied with it. I really like the simple switch (rather than a row of plastic buttons). Flipping the switch up locks it in high-speed mode, and if you hold the switch down it blends at a lower speed. I mainly bought this model because it seems sturdy and long-lasting and I didn't want a plastic piece of junk that would break in 6 months like my last blender. I've only had it for 4 months, but I'm guessing it will last years. Other reviews say the plastic base of the pitcher seems like it will crack. I'm sure it would crack if you slam it down on your counter because you're drunk on margaritas, but i'm not too worried about it as I make breakfast smoothies. Other reviews also say the pitcher doesn't lock into the base well, but all that it takes is a little wiggling to get it to settle into the base. Other reviews also say it is too loud. Yes, it is really loud, but it can turn rock-hard frozen fruit into liquid in under a minute so I really don't expect it to be quiet.

Customer Review: Great blender!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this blender--it makes our frozen margaritas and frozen coffee drinks in a flash! And the noise, well the person who said she needed earplugs while using it must be over-sensitive. Yeah, it makes noise, as you would expect a blender chopping up ice would, but it's nothing to make you jump through the ceiling. Try my favorite iced coffee drink: toss into blender in order: 2 cups of ice (I use the crushed ice from my freezer), enough skim milk to cover ice plus another 1/2 inch, about 1/4 cup non-fat half 'n half, 3 heaping teaspoons of instant coffee (regular or decaf), and about an ounce of sugar-free chocolate (or other) flavored coffee syrup (adjust amount to your tastes). Blend until smooth (use the pulse and allow air to surface every few seconds, as needed). This serves 2-3 people. A perfect drink for hot summer weather, and you can't tell that it contains instant coffee, non-fat dairy, and sugar-free syrup!

To clean up, just rinse out contents, add a drop of dish detergent and a couple cups water, blend, then rinse again. Voila!

Customer Review: Not junk, but not perfect either
Summary: 3 Stars

The photos of this product make it look better than it is. Upon receiving it, I found it's clearly one of those products that is designed to LOOK nice and durable in photos (thus enticing buyers) while maintaining a high profit margin in reality. Despite the retro look, the build quality is a far cry from the solid made-in-USA appliances of pre-1960. The metal parts are thinner than they should be and kind of cheap looking when viewed up close. The base has a powder coat finish that is much rougher than it looks in the photo- it'll be a pain to clean when food inevitably splatters and dries in all those nooks and crannies. Of particular concern: the on/off switch has a metal toggle and doesn't seem to have a rubber gasket to prevent moisture from entering the switch and electrocuting you, so make sure your fingers are dry! Oster should switch to a sealed, flat surface switch like KitchenAid uses. Functionally, not much to say about it-- it blends OK so far and is easy to disassemble and clean. Hope it lasts at least a few years...

Customer Review: I love this blender!
Summary: 5 Stars

My (almost) thirteen year old daughter calls this blender "awesome," and she's right! It blends beautifully and crushes ice like a champ. It looks terrific on the countertop too, no need to hide it away. The beehive base and the matte black and stainless finish work equally well with traditional, vintage or modern decor. Form aside, this is a functional machine. I love the simplicity, the power and the ease with which it does the job--right out of the box. The quality is obvious and it is a joy to use. Plus, no more scrapping off dried smoothie (yeah!) I can stick the jar right in the dishwasher (the last blender jar I used melted when I did that!) As a family we are heavy into protein smoothies after workouts. We also love icey drinks and creamy soups. We have been disappointed with other blenders on one job or the other. This blender handles it all with ease. The Oster Professional Series Blender is well worth the manufacturer's list price, but it is a steal with the Amazon.com discount (I got 40% off!) and amazonprime shipping!
