Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oster BPST02-B Professional Series Blender, BlackCustomer Review: great overall belnder Summary: 5 Stars
this is my 3rd blender. i've had the cuisinart duet (bought that for my sister and gave mine to my mom) and hence i was blenderless for about a year. debated between the waring pro blender that everyone sees on foodtv, another cuisinart and the kitchenaid.
Both the cuisinart and kitchenaid are nice blenders, but they don't crush ice as well as this one. The waring, as beautiful as it is, just is overpriced for what you get. there aren't many things this oster can't do. granted it's only got 1 speed and pulse, but what do you really need?
i never found that i used all 21 speeds on my cuisinart anyways, and this definitely crushes ice better. plus it's got the beautiful aesthetics of a matte finish and flat silver trim. my only wish is that the power cord were a tad longer. i love the fact that this has a square metal contact mount to the motor. all the others are plastic. not that i've ever had any of them break on me, but knowing that this is metal, gives me more confidence that this won't fail due to the contact area.
if you get this blender, i'm sure you'll be making a ton more smoothies as i know i will.
Customer Review: Amazing blender! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm only 19-years-old, but I came on here to get a blender that actually works, and that has good reviews. The last one my mom got was very bad, and it left huge chunks of fruit and ice in the smoothies I would make. This one does no such thing, and there is not chunks of anything left behind. That's because this blender blends it all, and it's amazing! A little loud like some other reviewers have been saying. It's blending up ice, fruit, e.t.c., so do you really expect that to be not noisy?! It certainly isn't that loud at all. It's about as loud as all other blenders are. Someone also said that it had a short cord. Let me tell you, the last blender I used had a super short cord, but this one is twice as long as that one. It also is easy to clean too. You can either chose to put it in the dishwasher or you can read the instructions (put 3 cups of warm water, 1 to 2 drops of dish washing liquid, and blend away for 10-15 seconds to clean. I prefer the second method better. This blender makes professional smoothies in my opinion for a very affordable price. It's great all around if you ask me.
Customer Review: Painfully noisy Summary: 1 Stars
My fiance and I registered for this blender after reading the near-universal praise on Amazon. We make smoothies often, and I also use a blender to puree soups. I couldn't wait to try this one, which seemed like it was going to make blending a breeze.
Unfortunately, this machine is SO LOUD that it doesn't even matter how powerful it is. We couldn't even stand to keep it running for fear of killing our ear cells. You know how when you pass a jackhammer in the street, you have to cover your ears really well, just to be able to stand walking by? The noise was almost to that level. Truly deafening. I decided that I would have to put ear plugs in if I ever wanted to use this blender again, so we sent it back.
And the one smoothie we tried to make? Even that was a disappointment. The blade had a very hard time cutting through the frozen fruit (even though we had plenty of milk and fresh fruit in the mix).
I have never felt the need to write a review on Amazon until now, but this experience was so jarring (no pun intended) that I felt I should warn others.
Customer Review: Great Blender Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this blender about a month ago, and have been very happy with it. I use it primarily to make protein shakes. I thought my previous blender was just fine, but I can now do in 5-10 seconds what it took me at least 30 seconds to do with my previous blender. And really some things I can do now which I never could before. You should have no reason to worry about having insufficiently crushed ice anymore. This blender is a little louder, but when you run it a far shorter time I don't think it disturbs others as much as a quieter (weaker) blender.
My one complaint would be that the center piece in the lid does not form a tight seal. As a matter of fact, it really does not form a seal at all, but has open air holes that allow liquid to come through the top pretty easily. Not in large quantity, but enough that you can count on cleaning off the counter almost every time. Even when only quarter-full, or drop or two will still pop out of the lid. This one factor kept me from giving this blender 5 stars, but it would not keep me from recommending it to others.
Customer Review: Blenderrific! Summary: 4 Stars
First thing, this is not the cheap weak plastic model you are used to. The main housing of the blender is made out of metal and feels nice and heavy. It also has a nice sturdy base with rubber feet, which keep it from wanting to flip over or move around. I have used it to make smoothies, crush ice, and whip up a pesto sauce. For all of these things it worked very well. Secondly the glass jar has a nice heavy feel and is nicer for mixed drinks. It also looks really good against my black counter tops.
One point to bring up, some of the reviews complain about the noise it makes being louder than they expected. Well if you have a V-8 in your car, it most likely makes more noise then a wimpy 4 cylinder. So a blender with a bit more under the hood makes a bit more noise than the cheap plastic ones. So unless you are making smoothies when everyone else is sleeping you should be fine. To be honest I do not notice it being that much louder than the ones I have owned in the past.
Good product, good price, nice Amazon experience
