Customer Review: Solid and Simple
Summary: 4 Stars

My fiance and I received this as a wedding gift from our registry list. We use it every morning to make smoothies. This model has only two speeds/settings: on and off. We love it.

I'm a simple person, and I believe that simplicity is the way to avoid most headaches. I've used many blenders in my lifetime, and the multiple speeds (puree, pulse, blend, crush, etc.) all pretty much seem the same to me. There are distinguishable differences, but at the end of the cycle, they all pretty much chop whatever you throw in there. In my case, I almost always use it to chop/blend ice. And it works perfectly. While I have not put years of use into this motor, I have put a few months of quite rigorous use on it, and it works wonderfully. I just flip the switch on and blend for a longer/shorter period of time depending on the consistency I want, and it comes out perfectly.

The only thing I would consider changing about this blender is to provide a retractable cord. The length is very manageable (about 3'), and it tucks away nicely, but being able to neatly store the cord when necessary would be a nice perk.

This is a simple product with no bells and whistles, just an easy-as-pie on/off, and couldn't be easier to clean.

Customer Review: Can a blender be too powerful???
Summary: 3 Stars

We've had this blender for about a year now. If you're buying it to make smoothies, forget it. I agree with other reviews about smoothies. We load it with chucks of frozen strawberries, blueberries, peaches, plain ice, etc. Add a little juicy juice and/or yogurt. Turn it on....wow, the power is unbelievable. However, if it can't grab the frozen items, it can't blend.

Since it only has 2 speeds (basically 1, since the pulse button is the almost the same speed), it just can't do the job. The blades spin so fast, it whips the bottom items into whip cream while leaving the items above the blade stuck in place. You have to use a kitchen spoon to keep pushing the items down, turning it back on, pushing the items down, turning it back on, etc. It usually takes about 4-5 pushes to get it to finally blend the entire mix into a smoothie. I've tried putting the different items in a different sequence....like putting in the yogurt first, ice first, etc. Nothing works. Some mornings I actually get hysterically laughing at it. My wife then laughs at me!

SO......if this is what you are buying it for, DON'T!!!! It make work fine for drinks and soft items, but lots of luck. I will say this: IT IS POWERFUL! AND IT IS LOUD! Wear earmuffs!

Customer Review: Love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have only owned the product for a short time (and used it about a dozen times), so I can't say how well it'll last. But the honeymoon phase is in full effect! I love this machine; the only machine in my house I love more is my TV. It is solid and heavy, and doesn't move around when you use it. Normally I dislike loud machines (and trust me, this baby is loud), but the sheer awesomeness of its blending power is best expressed through its growling noise. Ice cubes? BAM! crushed at the speed of sound. Smoothies? Shakes? Bring it ON!

I love the simplicity of "blend" versus "pulse"; fifty different speeds rarely produce fifty different results and I hate the clutter of a lot of buttons on front. The switch feels solid and well made; i dislike buttons or dials because they always seem poorly made.

I also prefer that the jug is glass (which doesn't stain, works better w/ hot foods, and is non-stick). The blades also separate from the jug, which makes it easier to clean, and in the future (when dulled) easier and cheaper to replace. The lid is nice and tight, although the grip isn't the most effective for pulling it off the jug.

I definitely recommend this blender....with the caveat that I've only owned it a short time.

Customer Review: Could be Stronger
Summary: 4 Stars

Despite its weak 1/2 horsepower engine, I bought this blender after hearing rave reviews about its power to crush everything from ice to frozen fruits on contact.

I've used the blender for about two weeks now, and I have to say it's a decent product.

Pro: Cleaning is extremely easy. All you need to do is fill it up with two cups of water, add a drop or two of dishwasher soap, blend and rinse. Takes one minute.

Con: Smoothie requires several sifting to complete. It never gets the job done on the first attempt. Usually on the first go-around, it'll blend the bottom third of the smoothie. Once you sift it, it'll blend another quarter or third. This process must be repeated as long as it takes to fully blend the entire smoothie. On average, I have to repeat the process around five or six times of popping the lid open and sifting, affixing the lid, blending, and then popping the lid open again, etc.

Overall, the selling point is its ease of cleaning. However, the blender could use a bit more power so that it can automatically whirl and suction everything into its spinning blade. Unfortunately if you're into making smoothies like I am, there's gonna be a lot of manual labor involved.

Customer Review: Can't handle normal use!
Summary: 1 Stars

After the Beehive Classic we bought broke in less than 2 weeks, we thought we would try the so called PROFESSIONAL model. After all, this thing has more 5 star reviews than a FREE lunch!

WRONG!

Just as many others have TRIED to warn potential buyers about the major flaw in this product... I too discovered that it DOES NOT have an all metal drive. Instead the motor and blade are connected by a RUBBER coupler that is designed to BREAK if the motor meets too much resistence. Problem is... that resistence can be something as ordinary as a 2" slice of frozen banana! This one lasted about 3 days longer than the Classic model before the RUBBER coupler sheared off while making a smoothie. I even babied this one by adding the frozen fruit and ice one at a time!

So.. Who ya gonna believe? The folks that gave it 5 stars an hour after they took it out of the box, or the people who used it every day until it failed?

It is not a matter of IF this blender will break, but a matter of WHEN! Hopefully before your 30 day exchange period expires.

Go ahead... Roll the dice! Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones. ;o)
