I've had this now for about 6 months or so, and I make smoothies and orange julius imitations from time to time and this baby is a real workhorse! It's squat, ugly, industrial gray and utilitatian in design and as loud as a mig at takeoff when going full blend, but underneath this blender lies the heart of a beast that will surely never die. There is no alternative to an all metal drive shaft and linkages, cheap plastic won't last half as long and good luck finding a replacement part when you need one... Sure the other blenders out there are prettier and come in a kaleidoscope of colors to match any decor but if it's just blending power and reliability you're after then I whole-heartedly reccomend this one!Customer Review: Easy to use and works great!

I wanted to buy another blender but my girlfriend insisted that we not get that one because of how it looked, she wanted a beehive shaped one. I agreed to the increased expense of this one only because of its all metal drive and strong motor. I am glad I did. This thing eats ice for breakfast and anything else you toss in there(watch your fingers!). I have never used a professional strength/quality blender before, what a difference. I fill it up with a few cups of ice, some drink mix pulse it a few times to get things going then I turn it on for 30 seconds and bam my drink is done. It also whips some air into it so you get that nice froth in a margarita at the top. I would buy again, working great!Customer Review: Everything it's said to be

It's a relief to come into possession of such a well-designed and expertly manufactured product. It's imposing appearance may not be for all tastes, but it's performance sets a standard for small appliances. No fru-fru/bling. No gadgetry or mutli-mode/40-button fake quality. No pastel plastics. Just the best blending on earth. Owned for a flawless month now. Yes, large pieces of things can get stuck above the blades. But that's just the truth of physics. To solve the problem: cut smaller pieces that will reach the blades. Gives new meaning to the word "smoothie." I've tried blending almost everything but granite. I've nicknamed mine "Heraclitus" because it causes everything I feed it to flow and become.Customer Review: Kicks Ice

I had a professional type blender that I had purchased while working at a pub... after 20 years of hard use it finally died... bought a cheap one at Walmart to replace it... it lasted 3 months... bought this and its kicking ice... powerful... never hesitates no matter what I throw in there... did I say powerful, its got power... every bit as good as my old bar blender and looks better... my wife even lets me keep it on the counter! Forget all this 14 speed garbage... 2 is more than you need... I've never found a case that I was sitting there going, gosh I wish I had one more speed... load this sucker up and turn it on, a few seconds of bone crushing power, instant smoothie... you won't be disappointed.Customer Review: Easily replaced breaks and those that cannot

Breaking a rubber gasket is not cause to criticize a blender, but breaking the driver shaft is most definitely.
It depends what is put into the blender to make it break. My last one died after a piece of unchopped parsley was caught in the turning mechanism and burned out the motor. Since motors cannot be repaired or easily replaced that means a new machine. A big negative.
The rubberized gaskets are nothing. I bought 10 of them last time I ordered at the hardware store. They are inexpensive and need replacement now and then.
I want an Oster like the one I received after I was married 40 years ago. It would made out of metal and lasted 35 years.
