Customer Review: Ticking TIME BOMB thanks to ALL RUBBER DRIVE!

This is our SECOND Oster Beehive blender in a month. BOTH models failed with the same problem.
One of the repeated negatives reported about this and ALL Oster Beehive Style blenders is a problem with the drive coupler shearing off between the motor base and the four sided metal spindle that mates to the bottom of the blade assembly on the jar. This occurrs through normal use, blending things described in the Oster recipe book that comes packed with the blender! And guess what? The coupler is made out of RUBBER! Not METAL!

Take a close look at the customer photos posted on this blender's product page next to the actual product photo. What you are seeing there is the broken off drive spindle that was once attached to the motor base. The reason it is in two pieces is that the rubber coupler has sheared off because it was over stressed while blending common ingredients!
OUR FUN FILLED EXPERIENCE:
We received our first Beehive several weeks ago and began using it for making our single serving smoothies using one frozen bananna cut into 2 inch chunks, 1 cup of milk with protein powder and a handful of ice cubes. The milk and powder were first blended. The machine was stopped and the chunks of frozen bananna were added. We used the PULSE feature to grind up the bananna into a puree before finally adding the ice cubes. We again used the PULSE feature followed by the full speed setting to blend the smoothie to completion. This worked GREAT for the first several days with the end results being a PERFECT SMOOTHIE! Absolutely no complaints on the blender's results WHEN IT WORKED!
One morning while pulsing the frozen banana chunks, the blades stopped turning even though the motor was roaring along!. Turned it off, removed the jar and BOING!... The 4 sided metal spindle was laying next to the drive shaft just like in the photo on this product page! With no way to fix it, and all of those 1 star reviews still fresh in our mind, we decided to cut our losses and returned it for a refund. Time to try some other brands.
When other brands did not blend well, we kept recalling back to the Oster and how well it worked BEFORE IT BROKE. SO... We gave them one more chance and ordered this model. Less than TWO WEEKS later IT ALSO BROKE EXACTLY THE SAME WAY!
Be clear folks! This is NOT something you can fix easily. Since the drive shaft basically snaps in two, the blender is DEAD! No blade motion = DEAD BLENDER! If this happens AFTER your 30 day exchange expires, then your only recourse is to ship the blender to Oster at your own expense and WAIT for them to send you a replacement, OR tackle the repair yourself which involves removing the motor on many occasions. All depends on where your RUBBER COUPLER sheared off. FUN! :o/
While I don't deny that this blender is hands down the best one out there in terms of how well it works, this WEAK rubber coupler is a JOKE! I bet a good 70% of the people who gave this thing a 5 star review have already had this thing break on them. Too bad people who give out accolades so quickly and easily never bother to update their product reviews with the TRUTH!
If ever there was a BUYER BEWARE warning needed, this is surely the place for it!
