After having looked everywhere for a decent affordable blender, I thought maybe I had finally hit pay dirt with this machine. Alas, I was wrong again, it seems that the good old work horse blender of the old days is a thing of the past. This item is not all that bad,except that it is very loud, especially on "High", and it vibrates like a V-8 running on 5 cylinders - you must hold it so it doesn't scoot off the counter( when on "High" ). The lid is quite flimsy and doesn't prevent liquids from oozing out ( hold on baby! ). I guess this is what we must accept as the "norm" in the 21st century, what with Chinese motors and Mexican assembly plants. Not that it is their fault, because, after all, who is engineering the specs?? I would have expected a whole lot more from "Osterizer"Customer Review: Still going strong - 1 year later!

This blender gets used several times a week. I selected the brand Oster because my mom's food processor has lasted her about a decade, and shows no signs of wearing down anytime soon.
I received this blender in June 2008. I use it for a variety of things:
- Fruit Smoothies
- Thick Milkshakes
- Homemade Frosting
- Margaritas
- Other Recipes
It is easy to use, dishwasher safe (a MUST in my house), and it looks great if you leave it out on the counter. I was surprised at the quietness of this blender. No blender can be silent, but this is much quieter than I had anticipated.
I would recommend this to anyone who uses a blender, whether it's daily or a few times a year.

my three month old OSTER 6684 blunder, leaks. Every time I use it, it smells like burning plastic. The bottom plastic, screw on base, is not designed properly. When the base motor spins, it burns the plastic ring. After three months, the ring is worn down enough that the blender now leaks. Since it is over 30 days since I purchased from Amazon, I have contacted Oster, for a replacement. But, So far, not a word from them. Just another company, using their Name and, good reputation, to sell cheap merchandise.
No idea why my updates are disappearing, but I have received a new blender today, what a difference a blender, that is not defective makes. I change my rating to 4 stars ****

After many, many days of searching and reading reviews, I finally settled on this blender. We just got it a few days ago and my 18 year old son put it straight to work. He is in to body building and uses it to blend up his protein shakes. These shakes have some very thick ingredients, including large ice cubes. So far, this blender has been great. It mixes things up very smooth and crushes the ice well. He is very pleased. I like the heavy glass jar and the ease of cleaning. I also like the fact that the drive shaft is metal. I believe that this is a well made blender and am anxious to see how it performs over time. I will update this review in the future as we use the blender for other foods.Customer Review: YES!

After years of slogging along with my old Hamilton Beach blender (until the glass shattered from one too many rides thru the dishwasher), I was thrilled to purchase a shiny new blender, especially one with such excellent power and a gracious plenty capacity - my breakfast soy drinks never blended so quickly and smoothly (frozen banana and all). Haven't experimented with anything else yet to be able to comment on - which is the only reason I've witheld a star (maybe not fair - but I haven't put this thing thru all its paces yet). But its a pleasure to wash out by hand - unlike my old blender, and so far I'd say Oster comes thru again!
