We bought this blender thinking we we're getting a quality Oster product. Dream on!
The plastic jar is so lightweight, that no matter what speed you're using, it shakes and rattles, sometimes to the point that the cover flies off!
The outside of blender unit gets very hot when in use, even for a short time.....NOT a good sign.
Take my advice.....stay away from THIS blender!

May be I taxed it a little too much by trying to grind lentils, rice and coconut once in a while...it stopped working a month after I bought it when I was trying to grind some coconut...It was great for softer stuff like tomatoes or making juices and shakes...I am planning to get myself a food processor and would suggest the same to all with similar intensions.Customer Review: Piece of JUNK

Had blender for about a year and had trouble with it for day one. Just to make a shake, it would stall out and hum and smell like burning wires, finally would not work at all. Would leak even if half full. The drive shaft is small and flemsy, would work fine as long as the glass jar was not attached. I researched & compared with other mixers on line and I thought it might be really good with cheap price. But soon I found it has serious problems - it shakes and leaks. The bottom leaks (the blade & bottom jar don't fit 100% well that makes liquid leaks). I only used it twice and I don't think I can use it anymore.Customer Review: Love this blender...

I really like this blender. I like the light plastic top container, the lid comes off and on easily, easy to clean, crushes ice well. Even purchased the little one-cup container to process spices and flax seeds - works great. Am ordering the Blend-to-Go cup. No complaints so far. Even looks nice on the counter.
