Customer Review: LOVE IT!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

This egg cooker is so great! I love the idea of being able to make eggs without standing over them the whole time worrying about whether or not it's cooking properly.
I really enjoy the ease of using it, and it doesn't take up too much counter space.

The only flaws that I have noticed thus far are:

#1 The shape of the poached eggs are wierd. They're a sort of triangular shape. It isn't asthetically pleasing, and my husband says he really doesn't like the way it looks either. It just feels unnatural eating a triangular egg. There's something very wierd about it.

#2 You really do have to play with the amount of water that you add so that the eggs cook properly, and when you find a size/brand of egg that you prefer, it's best to stick with that egg. Otherwise you will only have to fiddle with the amount of water you're adding to the machine again.

#3 You do tend to get a wierd sort of build up on the appliance after a couple of uses, even though I wipe mine down after every use, it still LOOKS dingy with a brownish stain, and has since the 3rd time I used it.

No REAL complaints, I think that this will be a staple in our home.

Customer Review: DANGER Lid Melted. Location of ON push button BAD
Summary: 1 Stars

The ON push button protrudes from the front of the egg cooker. When the house cleaning service cleaned my kitchen, they inadvertently rotated the egg cooker, pushed it against the wall, depressing the ON button and turning it on. As long as the button is pushed in, it will not turn off even though the cooking cycle is over. Several hours later a strong smell of burning plastic permeated the house. Fortunately I was home and found the source before a fire started. One could argue that the cooker should have been unplugged after use but that is not realistic. My view is that the ON button design and location is unacceptable. This design should never have been approved.

I researched for a new egg cooker and decided upon a Maverick EC100. It has a rocker switch that illuminates when on. The switch is well within the outer bounderies of the cooker and would be most difficult to accidently turn on. It turns off automatically and emits electronic beeps to signal the end of cooking. The beeping continues until the rocker switch is returned to the OFF position (the cooker is already off). This is a good design and the cooker performs well.

Customer Review: Review what product?
Summary: 1 Stars

Come on Amazon...how can I review a product that you were unable to deliver? I ordered the egg cooker in mid-July. Your carrier(Preston)shipped it in error from their Meadville, PA terminal (20 miles south of my delevery address)to their Ironton, OH terminal in southern Ohio. There it sat, and sat, and sat for weeks untill it was returned to Amazion's Redemption Center, whatever that is. All the while this was goin on, Amazon's only acton was to advise me that the egg cooker was shipped in error and tell me to chill and wait another ten days to avoid a double shippment. Finally, a month after I placed the order, Amazon issued a credit to my card and told me that I would have to reorder the Item. I did reorder but not through Amazon. I received the egg cooker in less than a week at a price 30% lower than Amazon's price.

I do anawful lot of business with or through Amazon and in my prior experience I've always found Amazon to be on top of their game. But this time Amazon, you dropped the ball big time. And now, to add insut to injury, you have the nerve to ask me to review the transaction...look it up. You gave me nothing to review!

Customer Review: Best Egg Cooker on the Market as of 2005
Summary: 5 Stars

What a delight it is to know that I can have hardboiled or poached eggs any time I want, with almost no effort, and no supervision. You can put your eggs in the machine when you wake up, go upstairs to shower, and never worry about it, because the machine shuts off by itself when it's done. Hardboiled eggs are done perfectly every time. Moreover, if you want to have hardboiled eggs without the bother of taking off the shell, you can just put four eggs into the poaching tray and fill to the hardboil mark.

The eggs will come out a funny shape, but unless we're making devilled eggs, we don't care.

There's only one disadvantage to this machine, and that is that you can't just dump the whole thing into the dishwasher. Sulfer tends to be released from the eggs and stick on the machine and you have to wipe that off regularly by hand. It can get a little dirty. But that's the worst thing I can say about this machine.

Simply put, this makes our lives easier for a very modest price. I never thought I needed an egg cooker before, but now that I have one, I'll never go back.

Customer Review: Damn good poached eggs.
Summary: 5 Stars

Oster 4716 Egg Cooker This gadget works great! As one reviewer wrote, let the eggs set out for awhile to warm up. This works well, but to keep from over cooking you can also use just a bit less water as others have stated. Other than that, you'll figure it out by the secound or third try. Hard boiled eggs are great as well as poached eggs. I have not tried soft boiled eggs yet, but it seems to hold true to what others have said... Let the eggs warm up a bit, or add less water for the perfect egg! Hard boiled are the no brainer in this case. Just pierce the large end, use recommended amount of water and you'll be good to go! (No warm up time needed.) Just remember to remove as soon as the light goes out, for all types of eggs this product will cook. And un-plug it to remove any fear of it somehow staying on. And one more thing... Use a vegi spray for the poached eggs or they WILL stick! I tried a olive spray at first, but the taste just dosen't go with the poached eggs. And be liberal with the cooking spray. It's healthy, and will make the eggs much easer to remove as well as protecting the poaching tray. Jim.
