Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oster 4716 Egg CookerCustomer Review: Just plain easy Summary: 5 Stars
This is the easiest way I could find to cook eggs. I know, it seems easy to boil water and throw eggs in the pot, but then you have to wait for the water to boil, put the eggs in, wait for them to be done, dump the water, deal with really hot eggs etc. With this cooker, add water, put the eggs in, cover, hit the button, walk away and come back when convenient and you'll have hard boiled eggs. Eggs aren't necessarily bad for you, especially if you just eat the egg whites for the protein! :) Only downside: kind of hard to clean, but I find that wiping it with a towel or paper towel works best to take off the grime.
Customer Review: Replaced Original Afet 28 Years Summary: 4 Stars
We received our first Oster Egg Cooker in 1980 as a wedding present. We only replaced it due to the stains from our hard water. The new one is almost identical, except there is more plastic instead of metal. Our eggs came out just as good as our old cooker! The cooker is very easy to set up and use- just add enough water to the base to reach the marked indicator. The cooker shuts off automatically when the water is boiled away. Just remember to put the eggs in ice water to avoid the green ring around the yolk as soon as the red button on the Oster pops out. We can only hope it lasts as long as our first one!
Customer Review: Peel it from the shell or the tray, your pick. Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this item to make poached eggs for a quick breakfast. This way I don't have to take the time out to peel them, but cleaning the poacher tray cancels out that bit of saved time. The egg sticks to the tray much worse than it does to it's own shell even if you grease it first. Also, the tray sometimes gets stuck in the lid and it isn't easy to get it out. I like my eggs hard, but so far they haven't cooked all the way hard with the recommended amount of water. I will be using it more as I go along and may write another review after I get it fine tuned, but so far these are the issues that have come up.

It works!
Just a couple of things I don't like. The poacher gets stuck in the lid and the eggs get stuck in the poacher. It doesn't matter if you use oil or not. (Being teflon you're not supposed to have to use anything, but I guess they used an inferior batch for mine.)
I had a sunbeam before, don't know where it disappeared to, one of those things that happen when you move, I guess. The lid in it had gradations so you could put the right amount of water in it for how you wanted your eggs to turn out. Don't try that with the lid on this cooker unless you want to water your shoes.
Customer Review: Awesome egg coooker Summary: 5 Stars
We love this egg cooker: it poaches 4 eggs (most do just 3); it turns off automatically (most you have to turn off when done); you just fill the resevoir with water to the desired level (ie: how done you you want your eggs); it is compact and it has a see-through cover. We use our cooker almost everyday and it has held up well. We tried another brand and we did not like it at all (Chef's Choice)--it leaked on the counter, only had room to poach 3 eggs, had to be turned off when it beeped (no leaving the kitchen to get ready while eggs cooked!). Overall, really pleased with the purchase.
