Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oster 4207 Electric Wine-Bottle OpenerCustomer Review: Amazingly easy wine opener Summary: 5 Stars
Finally got this at Costco after reading all the reviews. Just try opening a bottle of wine and it is soooooooo easy, I can't believe it. The cutter come in handy and I do not need to use the knife. All you need to do is continue pushing the down button, it will go down and up and remove the cork for you. I have read other reviewers and it is not working for them because they push the down and up button at the same down. The up button is used only for removing the cork from the opener. This is such a handy tool and sure we can entertain more and enjoy more wine more often. What a smart invention compare to the rabbit ear. It also looks very stylish on the bar table. Would recommend this to everyone.
Customer Review: Lasted Only Two Days!!! Summary: 1 Stars
I would strongly advise AGAINST this product!!! I bought this wine opener for my husband for Christmas 2008. Once the bottle opener was charged, it was easy to use and very handy... until two days after Christmas when the blue charging indicator light suddenly went away!! The opener has NOT WORKED since. I would have tried to return the product, but my husband threw out all the packaging and return label with a pile of wrapping paper. I read all of the reviews before I purchased this wine bottle opener, so I knew that there was a 50/50 chance it would not live up to my expectations. Oh, well. I took a gamble and am out the $30. At least my husband knows it was the thought that counts not the bad gift.
Customer Review: Good for the Price Summary: 4 Stars
I have been using the Oster 4207 for about a month. Most manual cork screws are hard on my hands and fingers. This one is not magic, but it's pretty good. Caveats: Your wine bottle will spin if you don't plant it firmly on your counter top. You can't see or feel where the cork screw meets the cork and I have had one cork get stuck due to a bad start. It still takes both hands to get the job done. But overall: For people who open wines several times a week, it's a good tool. It is better than a $25 battery operated cork screw I bought at a wine shop. The Oster stays charged up well so you don't have to leave the cord on it. It is the coolest looking thing sitting out on my counter top. Get one.
Customer Review: Works great until it breaks Summary: 1 Stars
Bought two of these for Christmas, one to use and one to give as a gift later in the year. Began using right after Christmas. It was fantastic, worked just as advertised and shown in the video. In February it stopped working. It acts like the retracting mechanism broke. I began trying to get warrenty service from Oster. No luck.
In the meantime I began using the second one. It was fantastic until it broke two weeks later. Same problem. Now I have two broken openers. I guess I will go back to a cork screw, primative but effective.
I guess this post brought good karma. Got an email today notifying me that a replacement was being shipped. Will report how this one goes.
Customer Review: Almost too easy! Summary: 5 Stars
I received this for Christmas...somewhat skeptical....having used at least at least 5 different types of openers previously. However I have to say this one is pretty darn good! Use the included foil cutter, then put the unit over the cork and push the down button...wait until it stops, and you will see the cork is gone! Push the up button, and the cork drops into your hand or on the countertop. Have not had a problem.
Yes, it takes up some counter space..so what. And the little red light is always on, regardless of battery strength, etc. Oh well, a night lite!
Update: Have now used continuously for three months - don't want to estimate how many bottles! Has worked every time.
