Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oster 4207 Electric Wine-Bottle Opener

Customer Review: A really great tool for wine enthusiasts. Not just convenient. Functional!
Summary: 5 Stars

As it happens, I am in the wine business and I open a lot of bottles, between tastings, pairings and my own love of a good glass in the evening. I decided to give these Oster Electric Wine Bottle Openers as gifts to friends and clients this year. Everyone just loves them. It might seem extraordinarily lazy to buy a product to avoid the little bit of work that a conventional corkscrew requires. Maybe so. May daughter bought mine for me because she is a sweet heart. However, the constant pressure (applied by a powerful motor with a rechargable battery) never breaks a cork. At least, it hasn't in the 3 years that I have been using mine. It is simple and uncomplicated. I can't say that about the conventional units that I use when I am away from the house. My daughter is also one smart cookie!

Customer Review: LOVE LOVE LOVE this wine opener!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this a couple of years ago (at least) and it works great for me. Yeah sure it takes a little more time to use than a traditional opener but for me with little strength, it works great. My boyfriend makes his point by having a "race" of sorts to see who can open faster. But I still prefer my electric Oster opener! The cutter that comes with it works about as well as any cutter I've ever gotten with any wine opener. Sometimes it works the first time, sometimes it doesnt. But that could just be the way I apply the pressure. Anyway the opener works great. Stays charged for a long time. I had it unplugged for months and it still worked many many times. It works great on both cork and synthetic corks! If you're a wine junkie like me and hate traditional openers, this one is the bomb.

Customer Review: Most ease of use of any opener yet
Summary: 5 Stars

I have used almost all varieties of wine opener over the decades from the most inexpensive corkscrew/levers like Laguiole to very expensive Rabbits etc.

The Oster is by far the easiest to use, most consistent opener I have found. The price for the function is incredible.

I have purchased this for many family members, who have all insisted on one the moment they saw it in use.

As with all wine openers, the corkscrew will wear out after a hundred bottles or so and I don't see any option of replacing the corkscrew with this unit. However, at the price, it is no problem to just replace it.

I only hope Oster does not discontinue this incredible wine opener, making me have to resort to much more clumsy, less consistent methods.

Customer Review: Great wine bottle opener
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used products anywhere from $1 to $400 to open bottles of wine. This one may rank up there with the best I've used. I actually use this wine opener more than any other, and we leave it out on a wine fridge all the time. It looks good, charges all the time, and is VERY easy to use. All you have to do is use the foil stripper (included) to get the foil off the top of the bottle. Then just click the button and the automatic corkscrew easily goes in the cork and pulls it out. Release and click the button again and the cork pops back out into your hand. Simply place the device back on the charger and enjoy your wine. I've bought this for friends and family to replace their current wine bottle openers, and have always received great feedback. For only $25 you can't beat it!

Customer Review: Husband Loves It
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this as a wedding present for a friend because my husband just loves the one I purchased for him a year ago. It has everything you need to open your wine bottles in a very compact space. First you use the paper cutter which nestles in the back of the holder to free the top wrapping and then place the device over the cork and push the down arrow to pierce the cork. You then push the up button and it pulls the cork out of the bottle in one smooth operation. The only thing you have to remember is to hold the bottle firmly during the opening and closing.

It is nice looking sitting in its charging cradle, and we have never had a problem with it. If you drink wine, this is the best investment in an opener that I know (and the price is modest.)
