Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oster 4207 Electric Wine-Bottle OpenerCustomer Review: Best gadget ever Summary: 5 Stars
My husband and I were having such a time opening wine due to arthritis. I saw this and decided to give it a try. It is EXCELLENT! We have not had one bottle that didn't open perfectly and with ease. I was so thrilled, that I bought one for my son. Now he is a real gadget lover person so I thought he might enjoy it too. He is always appreciative when having received a gift but isn't a person who gets effusive. This opener broke that mode. He was thrilled and said that he gets almost giddy when he opens a new bottle of wine. He couldn't rave enough of how well it works, how easy it works and what fun it is to have. We all highly recommend it.
Customer Review: Handi-capable Summary: 5 Stars
My sister has a form of muscular distrophy which considerably weakens her arm, wrist and hand strength. I bought this wine opener as a gift to help her explore her love for wine. Every now and again we buy these sort of products (ie an electric jar opener) and are considerably disappointed by her inability to use them. That is not the case with this item; my sister can now open any corked bottle of wine completely without assistance. Operation is extremely straightforward and easy; it works like a charm!
I highly recommend this product for somebody who loves their wine but doesn't have the hand strength to operate a conventional wine opener.
Customer Review: Read the Directions Summary: 5 Stars
"When everything else fails, read the directions". I made the mistake of pushing the "down" button to insert the cork remover into the cork, and then pushing the "up" button to bring the cork up out of the bottle. This, of course is wrong. As the directions say, (DUH) push the down button and hold until the cork is completely removed from the bottle. Only use the "up" button after the cork is removed to remove the cork from the cork remover itself. And, I had no problem removing plastic corks by "following directions". I purchased two extra and gave them as gifts, and told the lucky recipients to "read the directions before operating".
Customer Review: Amazing Summary: 5 Stars
My Oster electric wine opener was a gift. It is not only a wonderful conversation piece, it is actually easy and very quick to use. There is no struggle with a cork screw and it takes about 5-8 seconds to open a bottle. For arthritic hands it is a must. It is compact and fits nicely in its charger on the bar or counter.I would have never bought this for myself thinking it would never work or it would be something else to use once or twice and disregard, but I am so very pleased with this gift, I will consider to purchase this product for others who enjoy a bottle of wine and for those who have arthritis and would enjoy a bottle of wine.
Customer Review: Does the Job Summary: 4 Stars
After a disappointing experience with the Ozeri electric wine opener, I was a bit leery of trying this one. However, the preponderance of positive user reviews emboldened me. This device works well so far, and despite a disclaimer in the owner's manual I have had no trouble with synthetic corks. There are a few downsides: (1)It is not particularly compact and it's somewhat noisey; (2) there is no indicator to show how much charge is left on the battery; (3) it has a slightly cheap feel to it. But for $15 bucks, the Oster is a good value, and my wife (who was unable to use our mechanical Rabbit-type opener) finds it easy to use.
