Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oster 3883 Belgian Wafflemaker, Chrome

Customer Review: Great Waffle Maker
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to agree with the positive review. It is very easy to use. After using it once or twice you will be able to make PERFECT beautiful waffles and it doesnt take long. It is a LOT less messy than other waffle makers I have used. If you put a little PAM cooking spray on the TOP and bottom just before pouring the batter, the waffle will come out very easy. I used my roommates at least 2-3 times a week for 2 years. Now that I am on my own, I am adding it to my wedding registry wish list!! Trust me on this one!!!

Customer Review: A Sticky Mess
Summary: 1 Stars

My husband bought this for himself after he destroyed the one I gave him for Christmas a few years before. We didn't like the other one because it was hard to clean (batter got around rim and under waffle plate). This one seemed ideal since it has sort of a dripcatcher feature around the rim. Well, the thing doesn't tell you when the waffle is done like our old wafflemaker. And the waffle never seems to be done-- just sticks to the plates and never gets crispy. I'm sure we will be returning this thing.

Customer Review: Great waffles, given patience with heating
Summary: 4 Stars

After reading reviews on Amazon, I decided to give this wafflemaker a try, as it looked better than anything I could find in a retail environment, for the money. Overall, I believe it is a quality product that ultimately produces really good waffles. I was disappointed with the first couple times I used it, as the waffles were not getting nearly brown enough on the darkest setting. However, I have found that if I let it heat well beyond when the ready light goes on, the waffles brown nicely.

Customer Review: BEWARE ! OVERHEATING - POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this waffle make plugged it in made a couple unevenly cooked waffles. Then noticed the heat was way too high . Waffle maker was crackling with excess heat till some of the teflone came off in our waffles. Return this unit rather than risk burning your house down. I am also contacting the manufacturer to let them know. I cant wait to find out which Chinese factory produces this little gem. PS Does not deserve a star but had to give minimum one star to post a review.

Customer Review: Can't Complain
Summary: 5 Stars

Grabbed this model onsale from Target [...]. [...]. Can't complain at all for [...] bucks. Makes nice fluffy waffles. Used a Alton Brown waffle recipe. The bigest thing is getting used to the amount of batter to use, but that comes with using and practice. Again can not complain. Happy with this waffle maker. I was going to buy the Villa Ware Waffle Maker 2002 model, but is it no longer available. This waffle maker made me more than happy and the price was right.
