I bought these for my wife who has a terrible reaction to chopping onions; If I cut them, she'll tear up even if she's in another room in our home. She has tried several of the old wives tale tricks (cold onions, holding a piece of bread in your mouth, lighting a candle, etc) with no major success. Until the Onion Goggles! Sure, they look a little silly. But function over fashion - they work! No tears!
That was the goal: to allow her to be able to cut onions without completely crying her eyes out. Fully recommend to anyone who won't easily embarrass.
