I had visions of cutting up whole apples, onions, etc with this devise. I was greatly disappointed that the wire cutting surface is not strong enough for that task. Instead, one must cut up the apple into slices first then it will cut the fruit into salad-size bites.
The wires on the frame easily get misaligned as well so be prepared to fiddle with the chopper using that little pick to keep it maintained.
I really feel the commercial is deceiving and the chopper does not perform as advertised.

This is the best little kitchen gadget out there...I have had mine for a couple of years and have given each of my daughters one for Christmas..and they all love them!!...If any of you are expecting to put an entire onion or tomato..into the grid and expecting it to perform...it will not...you must slice the tomato place the slice on the grid and chop down...you get perfect cubes..especially for my famous bruschetta...onions the same..slice ..place slice in the grid and chop...quick service...Customer Review: Disappointing product

I thought I was ordering the Vidalia FooD Chopper. Instead I got the Onion Chopper. It was for a gift since I had used the Vidalia Food Chopper for over a year and really enjoyed it. I was very upset when I found out that the gift I sent was only a small knife onion chopper and then the person who received it promptly broke off the corner of the plastic. My Grandmother buys everything off TV and she bought me this. I was very excited to try it. However it suxed! I couldnt get it to chop. The only way it worked was by standing on it!!!! Then the pieces of onion were all nasty looking I said "forget this!" I then finished my chopping by hand and call my Grandmom. I asked her is she liked it. She said no and thought i might have more luck.

I have only used it once and it broke (made out of cheap plastic)! It for sure is a "one time use only" and the way it is shown on TV is not the way you really use it, not so smoothly - I think they have used an already chopped onion. I would say it is better for soft vegetables such as tomatoes (which also is very messy because of the juice). It was just a waste of money. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
