Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Oneida 24-Count Cupcake Carrying CaseCustomer Review: Very Disappointing! Summary: 2 Stars
I have seen double carriers and since I bake 6 dozen cupcakes or muffins a week for my husband's staff I was very eager to have a better system of delivery. However, these carriers have three design flaws: 1. The handle does not lay flat so the carriers are impossible to stack, therefore they take up a lot of counter space, and make them awkward to carry. 2. The top layer is plastic and after only two months they have started to sag in the middle, so from time to time these bottoms come into contact with the frosting of the cakes on the bottom layer. 3. The bottom layer is too deep and the frosting gets messed up when the cupcakes are removed. So even though I love the fact that each carrier has 24 individual cup holders which keep them separated in transit it is a shame that they have these very irritating flaws.
Customer Review: Great idea! Bad execution! Summary: 1 Stars
I received the Oneida Platinum cupcake pan, tray and cover for Christmas 2009. Because of medical reasons I was not able to open and use the product until Easter 2010. What a disappointment! I tried baking the cupcakes in the provided pan and also in one of my own.
1st problem the cupcakes fit too low inside the holders and you must dig or fork to get them out.
2nd problem the plastic second level that fits over the baking tray is too weak and bends down on the lower cakes destroying all frosting and decorations.
This product would have worked if only the second tier had more support.
3rd I could not return the item for something else because I didn't get the chance to open and test the product sooner.
Bad Oneida, Bad Amazon
Customer Review: Use only if you don't decorate cupcakes! Summary: 2 Stars
I received this as a gift and was excited to use it, but I was extremely disappointed after my first use. The top tray is made of flimsy plastic and cannot hold the weight of 12 cupcakes. It bends so much that the frosting on the bottom cupcakes is ruined. What's even worse is that there is barely any room between the top tray and the lid so the frosting on the top tray is also ruined. It would be better if there was more room between the two trays to allow for taller frosting swirls and decorations AND if the top tray was sturdier. However, this product is perfect for those who don't use ANY frosting on their cupcakes or for those who would rather serve muffins. Then in that case, the name of the product should be changed to "Muffin Carrying Case."
Customer Review: Great idea, okay design, still worth it. Summary: 4 Stars
I love my cupcake carrier and use it often for parties, etc. I agree that the bottom tier can be difficult to remove cupcakes from, and I have to be extra sure that the top tier and lid are locked properly before I lift from the handle. There is some sort of problem with the latch that sometimes you *think* it's latched properly and then you almost have a near disaster. But, if you check it, you'll be fine. Still worth it though, to be able to carry 2 dozen decorated cupcakes with relatively little worry about them moving about during transport is great!
Customer Review: Good idea, not such a good design... Summary: 3 Stars
I was so excited to get this, as I am always carrying cupcakes to work events, friends' parties, etc. However, the bottom rack of the carrier is an actual cupcake pan, so the cupcakes are really hard to get in and out of the wells once they are decorated. Also, the top rack seemed to dip down in the center, smashing the tops of the cupcakes on the bottom rack. If you were doing very low frosting on these cupcakes, it probably wouldn't be a problem, but I usually pipe my frosting on, which makes it a little bit taller.
