Customer Review: Nice product; but, design slightly flawed

I purchased one of these a few months ago. I already had a manual side cutting opener that works extremely well (perfect if I didn't have arthritis in my hands).
This one has opened every can attempted; although, it did need just a little help a few times.
I think about 20% of the time (maybe a little less than that) it stops leaving a tiny connection between the lid and the can. Twisting the top around a few times usually breaks that connection; but, leaves a sharp bur on the can top edge.
A few times the opener stopped as if jammed. I wiggled it a bit while guiding it forward a little and it continued and opened the can. I haven't gotten into a jam with this device that I couldn't get out of yet (knocking on wood).
It has a little black widget on the back end that turned out to be a reverse switch. Guess that is for helping to clear jams. It does work without a can; but, I haven't had it work when on a can.
My primary complaint and the only real complaint with this gizmo is the actual cut that it makes. It cuts below the lid on the side of the can. If the can is either full or close to it; then, a spill is highly likely. The top edge of the can where the lid is attached also serves to brace the side of the can. With it missing, the side has no support and mashes into the product very easily also causing the product to escape the can. Also, the edge of the can is close to being a sharp edge. My older manual side cutter actually cuts the joint where the lid and the can are sealed together. It leaves enough of the joint on the cam and on the lid to prevent sharp edges and also provides support for the side of the can. Cutting it this way is more like a top cutter when it comes to spillage. I have had no problems with spillage using the older one. I would think a modification would be made to this device for this reason provided the cutting method isn't already owned by someone.
I haven't gone back to my older top opening openers or my manual side cutter; thus, I must be enjoying the use of this little gizmo. I use it every day to open my cat food cans; both with pull rings and without (all of them aluminum) as well as my small Tuna cans and on occasion a small &/or regular &/or large sized steel can.
